I've used this and i dont think its as good as the original Duck Tape or Gorilla Tape.
when removing the tape it also leaves behind the glue residue.

Yep, my experience too. Just doesn't stick that well. The clear outdoor tape was good though.

The Powerfix branded duct tape they used to sell isn't up to much but the genuine 3m should be OK. If you just want a roll of this type of tape for emergencies though Gorilla tape is the one to go for as it's a lot stronger.

Bargain. Even Toolstation's cheap version is £3.99 so got to be worth a punt.

The 3M stuff is very poor. It won't tear straight across whatever you do.

It's likely that way for a reason - 3M products are usually the best of their type (at a price).

What would be the reason?

That the lateral strength is maintained, ie. side-to-side forces wouldn't tear it.

Normally I'd be in agreement but this stuff really just isn't very good at all.

The BBC have been known to use 3M tape in "Silent Witness" - due to "Cost Cuts"

If they gave this away free with the Hammer Drill for sale during the same week it would really 'seal the deal'

Errrrr - In the present climate - I don't think that a Hammer Drill/Duct Tape special offer would go down well with Lidl customers

probably because lateral strength has a purpose. Use a pair of scissors.

This tape is great, I have used on air conditioning vent pipes for years and of course it leaves a residue when you remove it, that's why it works so well!!!!

Works on "air conditioning vent pipes" or air conditioning ducts as they are known. Who'd have thought it.
