Not for everyone, I know, but I've often used the Basic (Free) Edition to benchmark my machine and to test the effectiveness of upgrades. However, having to sit through the demos does become a tad tedious and unnecessary, but I'd rather do that than pay £18.99 for the full version. However this week it's been reduced to £3.79 on Steam so for that price I think it's worth grabbing it while you can.

A few things I've used it for:-
i) looping 3dmark firestrike graphics test 1 to check for artifacts when OC'ing graphics card
ii) tested bios mods I did to my video card to see if they were improving performance
iii) seeing if increasing CPU clock was improving graphics score, so for example on my original i5 4690K I'd need 1.26v to reach 4.6GHz but only 1.18v for 4.4GHz . As 4.4GHz was getting same graphics score as 4.6GHz I saw no point using the 4.6GHz profile.
Like OP said in opening post not for everyone but for those that do use it at this price heat worthy IMO.

Just for anyone buying this deal once you've installed the Steam version go to the Help page in 3dMark and you can reveal the key and use it with a non Steam version of 3dMark.

Don't see the point of this really, how much does the regular user even spend benchmarking?
It's better to find the benchmarks for your specific card online and spend this money on a game instead.

i love things like this, they help feed the "i must upgrade every 3 months" mentality. Because no matter what setup you have, theres always millions of people with the same setup scoring higher than you.. Where's that wallet, another £1000 gpu might get me a 100 more points..

Or you use it to improve your current setup without spending money, like overclocking performance/stability checking.
I don't know any PC gamers that upgrade every 3 months, I've had my 7990 since 2013 and I am pretty confident it has a few more years left in it - as it still happily maxes out modern games at 1440p!

Got this the last time it had similar discount. This software is not meant for casual users, it's meant for people, who have higher end graphics cards and want to further improve their performance by overclocking them. Software can be used to test the stability of the overclocks, check how different settings affect the final scores, check for throttling etc. The thing to keep in mind is that even though your overclock might be stable in 3D mark, this might not be the case in every single actual game. Really good piece of software for a really good price.

I'm just posting to let people know my graphics card is more powerful than you can possibly imagine and therefore I have no need for silly benchmarking - as my scores would surpass infinity. And beyond.
Well it's a Radeon 280x actually. But you get the idea...

I wouldn't read too much into these scores, my dual titan x rig only managed a total of 6762 on the fire strike ultra benchmark. The first sequence ran like a slideshow!

The EVGA 980 superclocked are somewhat troublesome - great cards but flake out/crash with most AAA titles unless you underclock them by 10%.
Great price for this handy piece of software - but i guess only a good price if you can make use of it, free version is adequate.

If you use the free version fairly often it is worth it just so you can skip the demo part of the benchmarks. I got a g2a key a few months ago for a few £ more so deffo a good price.
