Currently waiting for Virgin Media to install cable (8 weeks and counting...) so jumping around various data SIM cards as a temporary replacement. This has to be one of the best deals available:
£20 for a 1-month 20GB data sim however when purchased in-store a £20 credit is applied as part of the "CBKDEAL". The cashier confirmed that the minimum contract is one-month and can be cancelled at any-time effectively making the 20GB data SIM free!
Even without the offer this is a good deal for 20GB of 4G data, with the offer it's nigh unbeatable!
(EDIT: Credit applied to Debit Card during purchase)

Picked mine up today, although the staff couldn't find anything out about the £20 cashback so not sure what will happen with that.
I phoned up to activate it and got on the line with someone in under 10 minutes, about 30 minutes later it was all ready to use including data.

andysubaru, did you manage to cancel and if so how. I'm asking because you say you activated it but not whether you cancelled. l, although you sounded as if you did. Cheers

Anyone to help please: l got the sim from cpw few minutes ago- the store manager wasn't aware of this cash back deal etc.... I l wasn't charged for it and so l'm confused. He said the contract starts straight away and took direct debit details and gave me contract showing no money taken So how do l go about cancelling it and keeping the 20gb? Do l have to activate the sim before cancelling and if so how? Plus, the instructions say to register on their website.should l do this and then cancel. Would appreciate any advice. Tia

thanks I completely forgot to add the mobile internet settings, mobiles usually tend to download them for you automatically or prompt you.
It's all working fine now, the CPW credit showing on my account, waited 25mins on hold to cancel and the lady said she would process it, please hold, and the line went dead..... need to try again to make sure it's done!

Instore. CPW refunded £20 to my debit card instore, didn't have to make any payment, £20 will be taken by direct debit soon. A credit check is carried out, address duration & job title and duration.
I got mine yesterday around 4pm, had to ring iD to get it acivated and it's now activated. However I now need to activate again online for the data access? but like a previous user the code has not arrived.
How did you end up activating your sim waryofthsideal?
Thanks

I had to phone them and they activated and setup my account as I had problems trying to register via the ID app and website, phoned 7777 from mobile but that's via ID Mobile Sim!

Hot deal, but I left them after 7 days of being a customer. The customer service is non-existent. They have never yet answered a telephone call from me - I waited for a maximum of 30 mins before hanging up at least half a dozen times. Emails do get answered. However, they were still unable to give me a telephone number for my MiFi (1 month rolling contract) and a number is needed to open an account! 4 months down the line and completely out of the blue, I get a debt collection letter! I know experiences vary but mine advises to stay well clear :-)

I've also had a bad experience and wondering if I should've stayed clear. It took 4 hours and 12 failed confirmation codes to register onto their website. (Badly written software timing out before the code arrived 3 hours later). I was hoping to find a cancel link. There was no cancel link in the account page so I rang the call centre. They wanted a £19 early cancellation fee, but then said if I phoned back on 22 Feb I could cancel without charge. Then they hung up. I think this is very dodgy and wish I hadn't given bank details. Surprised that Carphone Warehouse are part of this

Yeah I think you're right the deal I signed up on was the Huwaei Mifi and others said they found it straight forward and then some like myself took multiple calls

Just note that it's not always straight forward cancelling, mine took around 5 calls to get through to someone who speak clear English.
I believe it's a South African call centre

Browsed and tethered from Nokia 1320 phablet no problem, bar the lack of 4G outside city centre (ironically same EE issue)
Given that MiFi / dongles are essentially tethering, tethering isn't a problem.

you need to check whether tethering is allowed - with ID unlike Three it normally isn't. Doesn't make it much of a replacement for Virgin if you can't tether.

Where does the credit get applied? To your bank account or on to the phone sim card?
