was looking for something not to expensive to set up in my shed and found this product from a known brand with great reviews.
This Battery Powered 1Byone Wireless Driveway & Perimeter Alarm System uses a new smaller infrared PIR Sensor that detects people and cars up to 20 meters away and then transmits a wireless signal back to the receiver up to 101 meters away,
The fully Weatherproof PIR has a 21 meter long single sided infrared beam which is very simple to install and due to the narrow designed beam will avoid picking up small animals passing by on the ground.
Ordered 3, cheaper than buying the individual sensors and a single alarm.

I've had one of these for a few months now and it's excellent at warning of approaching visitors. It's sited outdoors, halfway down our drive and rarely gives false alarms, the trick is to take care with where you site it. Nice product for the money and batteries last a long time. It would be nice if you could turn the volume down a bit - it's LOUD.

Can't you just tape up the front sensor so its got a narrower area that it senses?

It's a decent product but could be better designed. I've used masking tape for that to narrow the infrared sensor sited indoors when clients arrive. Wish it had volume dial than buttons, choice of colours to match surroundings, switchable white led light indicator that flashes like a torchlight, more choice of tones and some wireless contacts.

I have one of these, I made a little box with a small hole in ,to stop the birds tripping it off ,it works fine most of the time ,but last year a blue tit was trying to build a nest in it

Yes. it's useless outside, i got it as a sort of alarm if anyone comes up the drive, but i had to turn it off as it just goes off all the time & it's pretty loud.

I personally wouldn't waste your money. I have one of these & the slightest thing sets it off, bright sunlight, bushes blowing in the wind, cats...
That said might be better inside a shed, than outdoor.

yes quite a few reviews mention this, you get better results indoors. i guess to set it outside outside you would need a better and less sensitive one.
