If you are going to make claims like this, you should at least include some sources.
Animal testing like treatment of animals reared for slaughter should be done with as little cruelty as possible.
I'm not sure as to the validity of Peta argument.

Would you rather some mice be tested on to develop a potentially life saving treatment or would you rather my family or friends suffer instead?
All medicine has been tested on animals but I'm sure you'll never turn down a treatment for an illness if you ever came down with something.
Don't get me wrong, I'm against unnecessary animal testing when there are alternatives but clinical trials are unfortunately one of those necessities in my opinion.

I love your type. Are you suggesting that there are medicines developed WITHOUT animal testing. Let me be the first to tell you you are totally misinformed. ALL medicines are animal tested. But charities like Cancer Research do spend a good amount of time and money (your money) spreading misinformation that they do not do animal testing while other charities do. It's all total lies, but if they can get just one to donate to them instead of their charity rivals them they get more money. This is just one of the dark sides of charities.
So 2 of those articles are just assuming its fraud and one is about 4 American cancer charities. Not one mention of Cancer Research UK. You should be careful spouting things like this as it doesn't take much to cite libel. And no I don't work for them or know anyone who does. Saying a charity is fraudulent without any evidence is dodgy ground mate

1st source is nothing to do with the American fraudsters.
"The website claims that –
“Cancer Research UK is the European leader in the development of novel anti-cancer treatments.”
“We are training the next generation of cancer scientists and doctors”
“More than a million people donate regularly to Cancer Research UK”
“Over one million women have walked, jogged or run in one of our Race for Life events’
These quotes above are on their website. There were none about lives saved by the research that the volunteers and donators are paying for.
Okay, so lets talk numbers. Last year £460 million was raised for Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research admits that they spend £130 million pounds on actually generating those funds! 2.5 million pounds on Supporter Relationship Management. This is a strategy for the management of future fund-raising.
They proclaim that the work they do actually cost them, last year 341 million pounds, so they are in fact saying they are just about breaking even.
Here is a list of employees and their pay.
3,935 employees receiving up to £60,000 per year
38 employees receiving up to £70,000 per year
30 employees receiving up to £80,000 per year
21 employees receiving up to £90,000 per year
9 employees receiving up to £100,000 per year
7 employees receiving up to £110,000 per year
1 employee receiving up to £120,000 per year
4 employees receiving up to £130,000 per year
3 employees receiving up to £140,000 per year
2 employees receiving up to £150,000 per year
2 employees receiving up to £160,000 per year
1 employee receiving up to £260,000 per year
Total scammed equals £1,470,00… over a million pound spent on waged employees, this does not include the pensions that these employees are entitled to. I wonder if fund raisers know that their donations/collections are being invested on the stock market and are topping up employees pensions, as well as funding some of the highest paid workers around in a recession?
That is why tomorrow morning at 10am I will not be running the race for life. I signed up months ago under the pretense that I was raising money for a worthy cause. I am still going to run the 10K tomorrow, however I will be wearing yellow (coincidentally my favourite colour) and I will be running for Macmillan. A charity which does not pretend to spend your hard earned donations on false promises and lies. This charity offers practical, medical and financial SUPPORT for all cancer patients. Now that is something I can run for"

Your argument is invalid the above Cancer Research company manage to do all the testing without harming a single animal ...
So why my friends and family have to suffer? There are alternatives to testing on animals .. they choose not to use them.

I don't see how it's invalidated, computer simulations and cell lines can only get you so far. The recent French drug trial story shows that even after all testing precautions, things can still go wrong so we still don't have an entirely foolproof method. Another thing to consider is that the UK has a fairly high standard of ethics. If we perhaps ban or stop animal testing, research will simply move abroad possibly to other countries that have no or limited ethical standards to adhere to.
An admirable cause of course and one that should continue to be pursued but consider people are becoming ill with many horrible diseases now. It could take 10 years of funding and research to find an alternative and then another 10 years to find and test a treatment so perhaps it's best to have all options running at once, at least for the moment.

Over 100 million animals a year in the US alone are tested on or cut up ... There are no results that justify killing millions of other beings.

There is no way past animal testing. I believe the figures you write, but that is going to get worse as more research is done. I do not like it, but there is no alternative. You have to accept that.

Basically the claims are (in a nutshell) that big pharma makes huge amounts of money from treating cancer, and that finding a cure would not be in their (financial) interests. My gut feeling is there is some truth in that but I didn't see evidence of cancer research uk being directly implicated?

No. I am not Mr Icke. The Mr Ickes of this world- you will find- successfully runs Cancer Research. He want you to give money to him so he can wage his brave western war against the jihadi cancer boogyman. But in fact he takes your money for his salary and freebies. I know this because I used to work for Mr Icke and his type and his organisation. His misinformation works wonders on you. Now- you get back to baking them cakes for CR.

Let me ask you a question. Name one drug discovery company that does not do animal testing for their medicines?? I would love to know!!!
