Worked for me, any 2 large candles seem to do the trick!

The actual saving is of course closer to £24.83 (£60-35.18) as the bag comes free when spending over £60.

There was something similar on MSE the other day,but you got free votives as well.

I added 3 candles, got the bag in then removed 1 candle and the bag stays there but I wonder if they will send the bag out

No still working when you remove the unwanted item to take it to two jars, when the box with the tote in flashes up click the cross and not ok and then it stays in your basket

Fantastic find op! For everyone else who may be having problems with this, just do as the op said. Add the 2 large jar candles and the keep sake bauble then go straight to checkout. Don't bother viewing your basket as it all happens automatically when you checkout. You'll need to put some details in first before you get a review of what you're ordering. It works!!

I ordered Christmas eve tealight candles, Christmas eve boxed votive candle, Christmas eve large jar candle for £27.57 and got the bauble and tote bag too! I just added 4 x large jar candles and then updated it to 1 and the tote bag stayed in my basket! Wasn't charged delivery either so I am one happy lady!

I've ordered 2 large candles,got a free bauble but not tote bag :-( not even in my confirmation email.Will I still get it??

At first, the bauble was staying in my bag even after I took it down below £25 but then it started disappearing so I decided to go without that and spent £6.74 on a small jar + the tote bag.

I think people think the bag is removed because the warning says its being removed? ignore the warning, and check the basket because it will be there.

You add over 60 pounds worth of items which triggers the free tote so you add that to your basket then add a votive,but then go back to the basket and remove the extra items and that leaves you with the free tote, free delivery and just the votive to pay for.

Anyone had a despatch email confirmation? Mine say they are ready to despatch. Just wondering.....

I managed to get a order in after several attempts, let's hope they honour it like m&s did with their glitch last Christmas. It beggars belief at people ringing the company up. There is always one though that seems to want to alert them to these glitches :confused:(_;)

It's worth noting that when glitches like this appear you should pay the little extra and get next day delivery as the items will normally be picked straight away before the glitch is noticed especially at a busy time like christmas

Hi everyone.
I ordered 4 tote bags in separate orders. 2 on Saturday and 2 Yesterday (Monday)
I received my Saturday order's today via DPD and paid a total of £1.14 for a tart and added the winter tote bag for free per order.
I received both dispatch emails today (Tuesday at 2.45 and 2.46pm) for the 2 orders I placed yesterday.
Anyone who placed an order today should know ifs its honoured by Wednesday via an email and this should be delivered approx the same times as my other order confirmations from Yankee seem to appear between Midday and 3pm always.

For those of you who got "order dispatched" emails and then received "order cancelled" e-mails, I would contact Yankee Candle customer service to see what is up.

Apparently it depends what their T&C's say as to whether they accept an order upon despatch or delivery :

Have just phoned them - all generated orders supposedly despatched have been cancelled and the Hermes tracking number is now null and void. I recited - word for word - their terms and conditions regarding despatched orders and she put me on hold to speak to her manager. She then came back to me and said that it also states in their terms and conditions £60 must be spent to get the tote bag and therefore the orders are no longer entitled to the free bag and have subsequently been cancelled.
I told her that a problem on their site - allowing the bag to be added to the basket - was not my problem but she was having none of it. I told her I would get back to her once I had got some legal advice on this (friend is a solicitor!)

I've checked my Hermes tracking and still the same as yest, order generated, I'm think if the orders had been sent out then it would probably say at 'sorting depot'

But surely a confirmation of despatch email is legally binding for both parties? What if I had tried to back out of this? I would have been in breach of their supposed legally binding contract. So how is this different for them?

I don't see why Yankee are saying the customers are at fault. Mine clearly stated that I no longer qualified for the tote and that it would be removed prior to going ahead and checking out. If Yankees removal of the freebie for non-qualifying baskets on their site does not work, thats THEIR fault, not the customers.

I don't think so (not 100% sure), but I believe the goods are still their property until they leave their premises, and possibly until we (the customer) take possession of them ( as when some supermarkets tell their delivery drivers not to deliver certain orders that contain glitches that are already on their van)
On the other side the customer, under distant selling regs, can return orders for full refund ...... I think!!!
But would be great if we could get them to honour the orders

I think so too! All companies have to stipulate their contract of sale in their terms and conditions. As theirs clearly states that there is a legally binding contract between us at the point of dispatch then surely they have broken their own contract with the buyer?

I don't have facebook/twitter. Has anybody posted on their feeds about this? I understand it was a glitch but the transaction was completed and offically dispatched. Bad publicity isn't good for business and they may want to resolve this quietly. Typically e-mails/phone calls we don't get heard. But social media they may listen a little better!!

Best comment I have read since all the cancellations. People talking about lawyers over a tote bag with a few bits in is going to far. Every time this happens you get the same replies, you know you're not entitled to it but you give it a go and if it works great if it doesn't move on and forget about it.

One of my orders has been cancelled and the other is due for delivery within the next hour.......Will I have paid £5.95 for delivery of a £1.80 candle or will I get lucky.....Either way the earlier post is spot on......"nothing to do with that everyone who ordered knew they were playing the game, we lost simple as that ,everyone was guilty of trying to get something they were not entitled to, time to move on to the next deal/glitch"

Reckon the 5.95 express deliveries via DPD are ok but the standard ones all appear to be dropped

Can't believe people are trying to claim 'breaches of contract' and 'contacting solicitors'. We tried to take advantage of a glitch that would cost the company thousands if honoured. We know how the game works. We didn't get lucky this time. Move on.

No one is 'contacting solicitors' - I was merely going to ask my friend next time I saw her how this actually works! Agree that we all played the game and lost - no biggy! And yes we have all moved on to other deals. Life is too short to mull over such trivial matters.

They apologised and said they'd send out the missing items. Took an age for them to reply though!

However this has actually left me with a bad taste because I spent alot with Yankee and never had any problems.

I really don't like the way they apparently 'despatched' an order and then marked it as 'returned'. I returned nothing.

Additionally in my first order I actually had ordered something that I wanted, I expected some type of message saying a mistake had been made and to actually ask me what I wanted to do? Did I want to continue my order without the tote? I rec'd nothing, no message, no nothing... Just a message saying I had returned my order. Very unprofessional.

I just got off the phone to my sister who had ordered, and she said she sent them an email asking why hers was cancelled, as she had bought a number of candles and an xmas gift set that she wanted and that she wasn't fussed about the tote because the site had warned that it had been taken out of her basket as she hadn't spent quite enough so she didn't expect it to be ordered anyway. She said their first email was accusatory and impolite, with no apology whatsoever and no resolution offered, and when she asked if they could put her order back in they refused and now some of the items are no longer available on the site.
Personally I never understood the obsession and appeal of yankee candles, they're cheap tat the majority of which now comes from china, with the yankee brand name stuck on them. But for whatever reason my sister thinks they're the best thing ever, which is fine and dandy, but it does annoy me the way they treated her. She orders a lot off them, maybe she'll think twice about it now. Personally, I think it'd be for the best if the yankee pong in her home finally subsided!!

What an awful company,lie after lie,they have now changed the terms and conditions on the website to cover themselves,as yesterday the contract was formed upon despatch,it doesn't say that today.So it does go to show that if people had wanted to pursue it they would have had cause to as they were going against their own terms and conditions,why else would they have changed them.:confused:

I agree,I'm not chasing it but I was venting at them yesterday & today they sent a message back with the ahem updated terms,very underhand and it's put me off this company now & I have tons of their candles,I must have at least 10 unopened.

They sent me the 'old' terms and conditions in a PM on Facebook so I still have a record of the old ones - not that I will do anything with them or about them.

I'm changing my mind now I've looked at how much people are selling them on Ebay for :laughing:

Any updates? Yankee haven't acknowledged my email asking what i returned exactly
