Would this be a better option than a vodaphone smart ultra 6? My husband is a very basic phone user, I've bought the smart ultra, but I think that having a waterproof phone might be more use to him. He only needs to make calls, take photos and use the GPS for when he gets lost on his long bike rides!

Photos will quickly fill up the memory unless you use sd card and then it's a tightrope walk on maintaining memory free enough for the phone to run.

just remember these are absolutely crippled with internal memory being so small...I've got one ....and so hard to unlock boot loader and root to remove pre installed apps.

But once it geta Marshmallow surely you can then install to sd card?
Bought this from carphone last week with PAYG EE sim for £109. Plus it came fully unlocked no bloat from carriers.

Sony let you move data to the SD card, but the internal memory is always nearly full, which impacts performance quite severely. It's much slower in everyday operation then the 6 ultra. Build quality is superb for the price, though.

Got one for 115 from cpw back in july tried to love it as it looks fantastic until the plastic back gets destroyed with scratches, could live with that until the laggy scrolling/app reponse drove me crazy ...now on ebay, bought a smart ultra stuck a clear jellybean case on it for grip, unlocked for £2.50 and now its like a 1080p 5'5 inch moto G love it!
but in fairness if your after a 5 incher for the money its flaws are tolerable so heat!

I bought one of these sim free for my mum. I know the memory is an issue but it all relates to the user. Shes not going to load it full of apps etc. So not so much of a problem. Got her 32gb storage card. It had 2.8gb free when I got it initially after it had done all its updates. Ill load up a few apps and for what she needs its probably fine. However at this price point it should have had 16gb. 16gb should be the standard now.
Ive got an Z3 Compact which I wanted to get her too as I think my phones pretty epic but the prices are just not as low as Id want them to be just yet.

I've had this phone since April and as a light user it works well, great battery life and good screen. The latest software update from Sony (26.1.A.2.167) releases a big chunk of memory and you end up with over 3gb free after installing it. A number of apps can be moved to the SD card after install and the upcoming marshmallow upgrade will allow a wider application install to the SD card.
I have no experience of game playing on it but use it frequently for watching films and have no performance or heat issues.

I agree with several others that the internal memory is a problem.
It it's anything like the the Xperia T (and apart fro the extra RAM it looks pretty similar) the internal onboard storage gets filled SO quickly, and while you can move some things to SD, it's not everything, so it will still fill up.
Once that happens, performance nosedives.
They are amazing phones for the money - great build quality, good cameras, but memory is a dealbreaker for me.

Um, at the rather obvious risk of being inanely told "click the link", what site is this on? And could you please put it in the deal title.

Any differences compared to Sony C4 apart from 5.5" screen???

Yes the memory is an issue (at least until it gets Marshmallow). Just remember that all apps will install to the internal memory in Lollipop. If you have an app that is partly installed to SD card (they're never fully installed onto it) and get an update for that app it will install to internal memory, then you'll have to move it to SD card memory.

Why does only the UK get lumbered with 8gb phones? Everywhere else that I know of has this phone with at least 16gb memory for same or better price... Got 16gb dual sim version from pixmania for £128 few weeks ago. Came with an adapter for UK plug but have not complaint with the phone.
Edit: black 16gb version is 189 on pixmania now...

photos are easy to store on sd its the apps that refuse to migrate that cause the problems as seems to lock up more without 1gb free storage too!
