Beware of gearbest's warranty and customer service. I had a zte blade bricked by an official update. I had to pay return postage to China and three weeks later they still claim they have not received the phone.

NP, you may have to set up an account with them in order to see hidden links...if you have any problems hit me up with a PM on the MIUI forums (although they are a friendly bunch) same username... also read the last link i posted uptop as that is an easy walk through...happy rooting.
P.s this info goes out to any MIUI user who wants a hand.

Hi mate, you got a link to the root please. Not tech savvy lol. But when it opens its own links n tries downloading apps is turd lol. Absolutely loving the phone though. Best I've had by a distance.

Got the same case and screen protector. Actually makes the phone look a lot more premium, not that I was particularly bothered as I use it as a phone, not a status symbol :stuck_out_tongue:

I paid postage out and they paid it back, was happy with this seeing as screen had been smashed as opposed to being supplied broken.

I've returned a redmi 2 for a screen replacement. Posted to the European repair center and recieved it back 5 days later. Thats excellent in my book.
Me too. I was hoping for a 5inch redmi with full hd screen. Might go for the mi4c instead... is the case you got well built, cant find any decent reviewed cases for xiaomi phones...

I have been buying from China for as long as I can remember, hardly ever had problems from numerous orders, some really large pricey orders, including the risky Aliexpress. Gearbest have to be the worst money grabbing crafty barstewards out there - they have setup a very clever and crafty system to shaft you if things go wrong. All their support system have been designed around this, I know I tested it with new tickets and ones without the same order number.
I think they will also be having a Paypal account review soon due to the number of complaints and cases against them.
I would strongly suggest Ebay first, and then Dealxtreme etc, Ebay is always the safest bet as the supplier never wants negative feedback, and in my experience is always the best option if an item is available there, sometimes things are even cheaper there, expect to pay the extra quid or so on Ebay at times BUT worth it.

Gearbest dodgy as hell, AVOID like the plague, or take a gamble, better ordering from Ebay.
In what way? Did you have to return a product so far or to ask for a refund?
Otherwise, just the fact that you received the product doesn't really qualify as excellent service.
Excellent is also a big word, I would say Amazon offers excellent service, is ibuygou comparable to Amazon in any way?

Fair do's (i got an aluminum case for mine) for the price and specs it's a great phone...Xiaomi products are really well built with a nice customisable O/S (i flashed MIUI 7 recently) to be honest i was a bit disappointed by the unveiling of note 3 (not enough upgrades to warrant another iteration.

Most likely for warranty you will need to ship phone back to China.

Hmm, nice specs and price, however the last preorder tablet I bought from Gearbest was delayed nearly two months (I don't blame Gearbest obviously) and then even though the pre-order price was a 'sale price', between shipment and delivery the price dropped below the price I paid and since then has been consistently below the price I paid. Personally I would wait until after it is actually being delivered on this one and then there is also the potential they will stock it in their EU warehouse for a similar price as well so you can be sure to avoid additional charges.

Chances of getting this delivered sans VAT and duty?
steve1221 to moozoo
29 Nov 151#11
About 50/50. But that's the risk you take ordering from anywhere out there. This time of year you've a better chance, but it may well not get to the UK until Jan.
You can have it expedited, you'll get in about 5 days but you'll defiantly get hit for vat and duty. Swings and roundabouts...

Unlikely; they use "UK Express" which is Yodel and it is documented as being delivered from Hayes, Mdx.
Fallen out with Gearbest now; the item that I recently ordered was not in stock in that colour and they are fighting not to give me my money back! Unfortunately, re-ordered from Geekbuying and they, too, don't have the colour. Trying to cancel but they won't respond. Another Paypal special.
Finally did an online chat with Vickmall who confirmed that they had stock and have shipped within 2 days. So, be careful with these companies- now £600 pending on the credit card.......

HM Customs and Excise have the power to look at a person's bank account and see where the money was spent. However they won't do this for one off orders, if you were ordering a lot of stuff and arranged with the seller to lie about the real cost then you'd get in proper trouble. So yes small orders can and do get away with not paying customs, larger orders definitely not.
