nowt wrong with gearbest, it a great bit of kit and an excellent price, saves being a Muppet and paying £60 for a fitbit or other main brand. I'd personally pay the extra and get the 1s as it still dirt cheap compared to the overpriced ones. plus the battery lasts a month which the fitbit of the world can only dream of :smile:

Gearbest...They allow orders for out of stock products, do not tell you they cannot ship and rely on you logging on to your account to check. They they increase the price of the product, claiming it is in stock and refund you when you ask and you get less due to currency fluctuations. So, may be I was unlucky.

This is a variant of the first Mi Band, but has only white led's, no choice of colour for leds. It has no heart rate monitor.
The new Mi Band 1S has a heart rate monitor (as well as white-only leds). Confused? Mmmmmm.

It will....but it's limited to notifications from three apps only in the official Mi Band apps for Android and iOS. You can install a modified version of the Android app that allows unlimited apps, although it doesn't work at the moment with this model. But there's a band of enthusiastic programmers for the Mi Band so I'm sure it will be updated.

Original band is also tpsiv. This is a straight downgrade. Exactly the same as the original but instead of multicoloured LEDs, only white. Look for the real original of you can find it, or the 1s if you care about heart rate sensing.

I've bought four of these now. One for me and little Christmas presents for the family. I love it! The vibration isn't enough to wake me in the morning but then most alarms aren't. Heavy sleeper! It seems accurate to me and I love the call notification and sleep monitor.

Don't bother if you are looking for accurate sleep monitoring or step counting. I wear one all the time, it's hilarious. Battery lasts well.
omgpleasespamme to termite
24 Dec 15#46
Step counting I can't comment on. I guess it's about as reliable as a pedometer worn on the wrist can be (ie. not very) but I've never actually spent the day counting my steps myself so it's entirely possible that it's somewhat accurate. At the very least it's consistent so measuring activity from one day to the next is possible.
The sleep tracking though is accurate, at least for me. Stop moving at night, you're asleep. Start moving again, you're awake. Simple.
I'd recommend this over the 1S at £20 as the heart rate monitoring is a bit sht and although it may get better with software updates this deal is a great price and the vibration notifications are worth having. Although you have to check the forums for best app for it.

I've had a mi band pretty much since release and I really like it. Here's what I've found with the heart monitor;
While Running;
-If you start a running activity, the heart rate monitoring will be continuous until you stop the activity. It will give you an average heart rate at the end of the run. I run my preferred run tracker (runkeeper) at the same time. At the end of the run I edit the runkeeper activity to add my average heart rate. There is no provision to extract all the data, or see a graph, you only get the average heart rate. You need to have your phone with you while you run.
-You can set an alert to warn you if you reach a particular heart rate. I set it too low when I tried it and it was buzzing every minute or so and was very annoying. I read Chris Ryan's SAS fitness a couple of years ago and it suggested that you could exercise vigorously until hitting a target heart rate, and then 'rest' for a bit, before bringing yourself back up to your target heart rate. I need to do some research as there's a lot of conflicting info about heart rate zones, but this could be a useful feature.
While Sleeping
-There is an option to sporadically check your heart rate while sleeping. This promises to provide more accurate sleep tracking, at the expense of a bit of battery. There is no visual difference to the sleep graph.
User Activated
-You can use the app to ask the band to check your pulse whenever you like. I've had a few erroneous results but on the whole it's accurate.
If you are not going to run with your phone (and you are not bothered about more accurate sleep tracking) I would suggest either not upgrading or buying a generation 1 mi band. You can check your pulse using your smart phone camera and an app (I use instant heart rate for android, but there's a plethora of options) Not upgrading will afford you better battery life.
I have a third party leather effect band which I bought for my original band, the 1s fits in the band perfectly.

Who is?
Xiaomi (The manufacturer) is famous for "borrowing" ideas and designs from western companies. I'm a bit of a XIaomi fan-boy and have several of their products (headphones, mi-band, scales, battery pack etc) all of them are very well made and are cheap enough that if they didn't work I'd be annoyed, but it would only be a minor inconvenience.
Gearbest look to be a very big supplier of products to the west, it would seem it would not be in their interest to sell fake or counterfeit goods as it would harm their reputation and affect their sales.

Just ordered this myself as my "pre-order" from TinyDeal for the MiBand 1S for £13.16 on 16th Nov still hasn't dispatched so I've given up on them. I don't think the heart rate sensor will be used other than boasting purposes so I'm back to ordering this one. I've had my gen 1 Mi Band since Nov 2014 and it's been almost perfect. Dropped it a few times when I had the rubber band though and through general use it's just gotten a bit scratched up as I used to work in retail. Sleep tracking also doesn't seem to as accurate as it used to be so I'm seeing if buying a new one will do the job. If not it's only £7.00 for a brand new looking one to replace my scratched up one.
How do people get it for £6.70 though? When I buy from GearBest it always seems to charge the USD price to PayPal although on the website I have it set to GBP.
I had this cheap £4.47 one here but the holder part is glossy plastic which looked cheap. The leather band was decent though.
I ended up going for this metal mesh one from aliexpress which looks a lot more classy. I was worried about it being uncomfortable when sleeping but no issues at all. Only thing is when it gets wet the water will get trapped between the mesh which will give you a cold wrist until it dries. :P
I left a review on the AE site for that bracelet saying: "Super quick delivery, arrived in 11 days to the UK. Well packed and nice presentation box. Nice mesh bracelet and Mi Band figs tightly. Slightly rough finish where you can see machining marks to the Mi Band holder but I won't complain at this price when it's made from 100% metal."

I have one of these and am very impressed at what you get for the money. I can confirm the 30 days battery life is accurate.
I use the 3rd party app called MiBand Tools mentioned in a previous comment; it allows extra config of the device and has a widget which has step and battery info on it. Only £1 or £2 for it.
The notifications have been pretty reliable (more so than with my Moto 360 it has to be said). The "silent alarm" feature is cool and it even tries to wake you up at the right stage of your sleep cycle close to your alarm time (this is optional of course).
One thing to note; you can use this device with Android's Smart Lock feature, meaning you won't be prompted for your PIN or unlock pattern whilst wearing it. However, it isn't compatible with Marshmallow for some reason.
On the whole, this is a lovely device for the money. In terms of functionality, price and battery life it puts a LOT of manufacturers to shame.
I'm intrigued by Ulti's metal strap, I might go for one myself. I'm wondering if the casings are compatible with a standard sized watch strap, if so it should be simple enough to swap straps in and out.

Just received my order from TinyDeal out of the blue today. Funny as they were telling me to wait for stock and that they'd dispatch it straight away but never told me they did. They posted it via priority/express shipping too and it was delivered as special delivery this morning. Now I have to try cancel this GearBest order although not going to cry over £7.00 if I can't cancel it.
Not sure if these are the cheapest respective prices as I didn't have a thorough look.
