Built to tackle challenging terrains, the Vertigo Eiger mountain bike is a great choice for both trail and street riding. The Eiger comes equipped with a tough, lightweight 18-inch alloy frame with a red and black finish, and features 26" spoke alloy wheels. A quick release front wheel and seat makes securing your bike easier when you are in town, and it is also a useful maintenance feature.
Front suspension on the forks and rear shocks remove some of the jolting bumps that you will receive on a rough trail, and cable operated disc brakes help you control your descent on difficult trails. The bike is fitted with 21-speed Shimano gears with grip shift to give you a wide range of gears to select

Is it? And if it was still priced at £260 you would probably say for that money it should be reasonable. I have had mine for 4 months now done well over 1500 miles and can not fault it, ths bike costs less than a tank of fuel so has paid for itself already, im doing a 24 mile round trip to work on this bike 5 days a week. Just adjust the rear spring so it does not bounce as much to make it more efficent for road use.

Sorry, we don't have enough Vertigo Eiger 26" Dual Suspension Mountain Bike, 18" Frame items in stock right now. This item (s) has been added to your save for later basket. You can try to purchase this item again by reducing its quantity.
You could say, you've retired from the riding industry now then "Madam"?

It never would be priced at £260?
I feel sorry for you. Riding 1500miles on this piece of junk.
Ah well, if you want to stick to it then what can I do?
But I'll tell you what, you're missing out on an awful lot!
Mind if you tell me your avergae speed on this bike?

It's great to know that a bike like this allows you to do that, i have a friend who bought a bike for £60 and uses it daily.
I would still suggest trying a road bike for the milage you cover ( doesn't have to be expensive). they are usually lighter...

fair point.
I guess you get what you pay for but as a sub £100 bike, I am sure it can serve a purpose for some.

He's done quiet well getting 1500 miles out of it without it disintegrating. I'd bet he has shed a few stone in the process, for those that don't understand even if he locks out the shocks this will eat up energy, if you don't need suspension ( which you don't on the road and even mild trails) then don't get it.
Glad to hear that he hasn't taken this death trap anywhere near the mountains. For the same money I got a second hand trek 4300 off gumtree, so that would be my advice.

BSO, sorry but its too heavy and suspension is a stupid idea at this price. Get something second hand that was once a lot more and don't get suspension.

I'm sorry but I don't believe anyone has ridden 1500 miles on one of these in four months without any sort of issue. Even a good bike will require some attention after that many miles.

I bought two of these last year for my boys, 10 and 8 at the time. I have to say that for the money they are fine, they get my lads to school, they ride OK, I'm not overly worried if they go missing, what do you want for £50? I have a garage full of expensive bikes, I buy and sell retro stuff, but these are bang on for the money.

I don't want a £50 bike! if money is tight for anyone get second hand. I'm sure a penny farthing would be more comfortable and safe than these!

This is exactly the point that the usual bike snobs on this thread are missing. This obviously isn't a bike for going out on long cross-country rides but for people who just want to commute the couple of miles to school or work, this kind of bike is perfectly fine and at £50 it'll work out cheaper over time than bus fares or petrol.

A deal is a deal. So what if it's not got carbon forks or weighs lighter than a 10kg bag of basmati rice? Not everybody can afford a bicycle that costs as much as a car.
With the number of bikes being stolen on a daily basis this deal makes sense if you happen to live or work in an area where bike theft is high. Either that or you're on a tight budget and you want a brand new bike for £50. Cut the guy some slack. With the responses I've read so far I'm surprised people still bother to take time out to share deals for the rest of us.

Lots of happy customers on the reviews bit @ Tesco Direct FWIW. Probably worth it for a kid's present that you know will sadly be trashed or stolen within months :disappointed:
I'm just amazed they can sell a BSO @ those prices at all. I imagine it must've passed all the safety checks once imported?
