I just needed a memory stick / flash drive for something urgent and thought I would pay over the odds in local shops. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Staples are selling the 8GB Toshiba drives for the same price I would have to pay Moby Memory etc. but without the wait. They had the 16GB version for £3.99 I think but that's not quite as cheap as some online sellers.

I did that test. It took half an hour (not two hours) to transfer 7GB which I know isn't particularly fast but for the two quid I paid, it did the job. The person in that review must have been trying to use it with a Spectrum ZX.

Oh right. I only need it for one thing but will report back as promised once I have tested it with the 6.9GB file, hopefully with better results than that review.
Slow for USB 2.0 or slow because it is not USB 3.0 (the usual argument)? I'm going to fill it with a 6.9GB file later so I will let you know how long it takes.

As long as "urgent" allows sufficient hours to fill this exceptionally slow drive. But def heat for high street option.
