Bizarrely enough I missed all the hype surrounding the Raid so really enjoyed it. Thought the second was good, just not up to the original. Might check out Murantu Warrior

Personally, I doubt you've seen either.
FYI, both are amazing.
The second is a step up on the first in every way and the reason a lot of people "preferred" the first is because most were expecting a copy of the first for part 2.

My take is the opposite to you. Watched Raid 1 quite late when the hype, especially on hukd was crazy. Had high expectations so was naturally left a little disappointed.
Watched his earlier film, Murantu Warrior, was a kid back then but can't mistake he's trademark 'chicken flapping'
Haha just Raid 3 coming out in 2017/18, thought it was early next year, reported Tony Jaa will be involved.
