The Dark Empire Trilogy is excellent (new adventures post-Jedi with our favourite bunch of freedom fighters)...
Crimson Empire is worth a shot (first series was very good).
Legacy is awesome - set 100+ years after the original trilogy, with brand new characters and events (Darth Talon is particularly memorable).
As has already been mentioned, the Thrawn series of books are a must-read and are certainly what got me back into Star Wars in the mid-nineties. The comic adaptations were okay, but are heavily abridged compared with the novels. Not yet read any of the others, but are still a good price.

Was Luke turning into Yoda in this trilogy?
The Thrawn Trilogy is a must . They were the first ever books that were officially released as continuation stories from ROTJ . I bought them when they first came out
Edit .... just re-read .... these are comics .......well the books were great

Great! This is gonna cost me... Which ones would you particularly recommend? Think I'll go for four at that price.
