the new website sometimes makes it impossible to check that points have been added as you can only see 1 months transactions i.e. when points are added if the original transaction date is over 1 month ago you cannot see the addition
the work around is to access the old website via this link - the old website allows you to see much further back in time

pjlhot is right, you can pay in store. I did it with this offer a few months back (so can't get it now, boo hoo) - i went in the store not sure how it worked, but it wasn't questioned, they just did it. All good. Then Nectar is a bit rubbish, and it took 30 days to load the 1000 points, but the history showed only 25 of those days (or something).... someone had the old link to show more history and it was there. I'll try and find that link for Nectar

Always swipe your own Nectar card in Sainsbury's stores as this is how they were stolen from my mam's card! The assistant took her nectar card but swiped a one from under the counter!!! Luckily she checked her receipt & went to customer service straight away only to be told they don't show up straight away it takes a few hours for the points to show! My mam then bought a paper & some sweets from the cashier & promptly showed her the new nectar points added to her total!! The points were refunded to her nectar card & the member of staff is still working there so they are obviously not bothered.
faddy54 to mam2cam
17 Dec 15 #84
What was it about the receipt that your mum noticed? If a different card had been used, added points would show but with the other card's total. If no points were added then it sounds as though the assistant simply failed to swipe the card properly.

I am sure you could claim back the points at the Salisbury's customer kiosk within certain days (sorry forget the exact days). They would load the point when you present the nectar card and the store receipt.

Like Tesco club card, I think it is 14 days.

Or do a online enquiry on nectar web site, they reply quite quick and they are always helpful.

The online page let you attached Salisbury receipt so they could add the point manually.

In the terms of this offer it says for full terms read: https://www.nectar.com/ways-to-redeem/rewards/argos

Which are the standard Argos nectar spending terms. "Points cannot be redeemed and vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, promotion or discounted rate, unless otherwise stated".

But I used points to buy a sale item last week, with no trouble at all. It wasn't 'otherwise stated'.

There was nothing on the receipt at all about nectar points so the card that had been swiped was a dummy of some sort! NCIS to Burgmeister
18 Dec 15 2 #92
You can pay part in points and the rest in cash or debit/credit card.

You tell them how many points you wish to redeem in 500 points increments.

dealchaser888 to Burgmeister
19 Dec 15 2 #109
do remember to load the offer to your nectar card before your shopping on your nectar account page first.

Then go instore and do your purchase as usual.

Pay at the till (or someone mention also available at the payment machine), hand your nectar point to the cashier for her/him to swipe, tell her/him how many points/amount you want to take away for the items, then pay the rest of the price difference. That is it.

do double check the receipt if the right transaction occurs before you leave the shop.

the transaction would appear on your nectar statement in a few days.

(and about 28 days for nectar to add bonus points back for qualify deals)

tbh I wouldn't trust them to do this. their website has to be one of the worst I've ever used. The app even more so. They strike me as utter amateurs.

The items I reserved at argos have now expired so I've lost my reservation. Is there an option on the argos website to reserve the same item again? Like a previous orders screen? I cant find anything anywhere that would just allow me to re-order. Seriously, between the Nectar and Argos websites I must have encountered the worst 2 websites I've used in a long time. I dont know how companies as big as this can get away with it.

I bought card wrap for £2.99 till man charged £5 from my card and gave £3.01 change. Works at 2.50 and he did not take change from me. Bad customer service

was told nectar was minimum spend of £5 in store so 500 points is irrelevant

My experience was similar at New Southgate Argos in Homebase today. I bought a ream of Canon A4 paper at £2.99 and asked to use £2.50 worth of Nectar points (500) and said I would pay the rest by cash. However, the guy at the till said that all he does is swipe the Nectar card and the till takes off the points in fixed amounts. So the till took £5 worth of Nectar points (1000) and he gave me £2.01 change on an Argos gift card! I don't know if it would have been different if I had tried to buy an item that cost £2.50 or less. So either the guy was talking rubbish or not all Argos stores can use Nectar points properly!

bought a £4.41 cafetiere with 500 points and got £0.59 change. So hopefully will get my "money" back receiving the 1,000 points back to my Nectar card.
raj75 to spitfire51

500 points only will get £2.50.. if you got £0.59 change, then you were charged for 1000 points.

Is this still current? As I use my nectar card today at argos. So hoping I get a 1000 points back, as I used 500

22 Dec 15 #138
Good offer. just make sure the cashier knows what she's doing.
I asked her to use 500 points. turns out she took off £5 (1000 points) instead. she then said "oops, you can't get them back its to late, I have swiped your card, I don't know how much nectar points are worth" not very good from Argos! spoilt my profitability from double up time.
raj75 to lukeytoons
22 Dec 15 #139
When I bought today, it mentioned that in £s. I had 3000 points and it showed in the cashier screen as £15. I told only use £2.50 and that's exactly they did. Cashier shouldn't look at points, when clearly pound value is shown in screen.
Raikkon85 to lukeytoons
23 Dec 15 #143
You'll still get 1000 points back. Redeeming 500 points is the minimum amount. So you won't lose out. You just gain 0 points but save a fiver!

sorry to hear about that, my own experience with nectar com contact use page is quite good, they always reply, yes sometimes I need to persist a bit but overall I always get back the points I earned. (PS I don't use their app so I could not comment about that)

as Argos, if they still have stocks, I always just put forward a new reserve request.

about big company website, I would say Tesco direct is much worse than Argos, unfortunately I always collect Tesco club card points (my main shopping place), I love club card boost but hate to use their web site to shop.

23 Dec 15 #145
Lots of potential for errors at the till with this one I'm afraid !!!

The minimum amount is 500 Points - which is £2.50 in value - which is confusing to start with.

And I believe cashiers actually have to enter the money value at checkout (after swiping the Nectat card) so if you say 500 (meaning points) they might enter 500 as a money value which actually deducts 1000 points.

At least you are getting 1000 points back but one to beware if they do another promo.

Annoyingly the same thing happened to me, spent £2.99 on batteries but was then given £2.01 back on a gift card, so effectively I've spent 1000 pts to get 1000 pts back! Although I do still have some batteries and the gift card (unless I manage to lose it before I spent it)

"no big deal" not sure I follow your logic as surely the deal was all about getting 1,000 extra points for a £2.50, not a £5, spend?

Did anyone read the T&Cs for this offer and notice the date in which points were meant to be credited. Looking back to the same offer in 2014 - it stated the bonus points would be credited by end of January 2015.

Yeah we have all seen terms and conditions. Tho by 20th Jan is the latest date they will be credited. Generally they are added no later than 4 weeks after transaction. The 20th if you count back is 4 weeks after the last available transaction date of the 23rd Dec. Those who took up the offer earlier should start seeing their points appear.
