Best price for 180g of Smoked SCOTTISH salmon in market. Scottish salmon, smoked in Scotland, packed in Scotland. Good quality product too.
Not Norwegian like Asda, Tesco and Morrisons. Beware Scottish Smoked Salmon means its smoked in Scotland only. Fish could be from anywhere.
Not packed in Poland like Aldi and Lidl where you can buy 200g of not the finest smoked salmon (mush if you are really unlucky) for £2.75.

The aldi Xmas smoked salmon is actually supplied by a U.K. Supplier - the same one who supplies Selfridges. Never mind though keep myopically overpaying for your Co op crap.

Purchased a lovely pack of Morrisons smoked salmon this morning: 300g for £4 (£1.33/100g).

Lovely in what way - have you tried it yet?

I agree with dvdvicar - Norweigian tastes better, more smokely, less fishy generally, compared with Scottish. I am sure it varies though. But when Lidl are doing 200gms for £2.75 i.e. cheaper and weighs more, and it is usually Norweigian, that beats this offer from the Co-op. Something which is not difficult to do normally!

It may be a good deal but a touch oversold by the OP I think!
A 'bargain' at Co-op is something to mention though - doesn't happen very often.

As far as farmed salmon goes, I don't see that it matters which country they are farmed in... does it? Farmed salmon is generally deemed to be far more contaminated than its wild counterpart. Can't afford wild, so I'm happy to go for best value amongst the varieties that do not contain sugar, given that none of them are gonna do my body much good... other than my tastebuds.

Top marks and star buy in the Daily Mail for the Co-op product.
Always get your smoked salmon & fresh fish from your local fishmonger - vastly better quality , service , advice and nine times out of ten a better price as well. ( they want to get your repeat business...)
Have been told quite a few times at various fish counters in supermarkets that their UK sourced herring and mackerel are fresh when i knew the fishing fleet had stopped catching these species months earlier - YOU COULD EASILY SEE THEY WERE DEFROSTED - and dont bother with their freshly "defrosted" crap river cobbler... :disappointed:

Morrisons smoked salmon came top in the
Good Housekeeping Institute taste tests.
The two tested from the Co-op came way
down the list.

You really think that Scottish is better than Norwegian .......?

depends on the farms, feed etc. Good and bad products made with both. Finished product depends on the salt, smoke time, freshness of fish etc. Difference in quality is huge.
