Just got email from them advertising offer. Looks like the best price at the moment, but hoping Amazon will repeat the £79.99 black friday/lightning deal price after Christmas so I can use any Amazon vouchers I might get for Christmas

Hmm, tempted to get this and give my Samsung 840 Evo 256GB OS drive to my brother but as far as I can tell this would perform worse than my Samsung (I haven't found a direct comparison, so I'm just going on what I have seen).
I've got an OCZ Arc 480GB which I'm using just for games, so I could use that for the OS drive (with games on the remaining space) and the Sandisk just for games but the OCZ appears to be considerably slower than my Samsung as well in some respects, so I should probably just wait and try and find something at least as good as my Samsung before I replace it.

I have x 2 SanDisk Ultra II 128 Gb and other x SSD 256 GB cant remember now ""but not samung""
When copying 1 GB file to Sandisk the write speed show up to 500 MB all OK ,
When copying 25 GB the first 4GB up to 500 MB than 250 MB or slower can drop to 150 MB ????
Do we have same issue with Samsung 840 Evo coping big files ??
The mainboard X99 asrock Core I7 16 GB Ram
as on paper they advertising write speeds up to 500 MB for me it is working just for the first 4GB later it is drops to 150 MB compare to HDD I can get same write speed 150MB ? Im not saying that SSD slower vs HDD
it is looks like the advertising speeds of 500MB is SSD Caching speed but real life write speed slow ??

I don't know how the Samsung 840 Evo compares but this review shows the Sandisk Ultra II's 128Kb sequential write speeds as rather low, so maybe that test was done with a file larger than 4GB and reflects the slowdown you're experiencing http://www.anandtech.com/show/9408/ocz-trion-100-240gb-480gb-960gb-review/7

I just tried copying a 1.34GB file from my OCZ Arc to my Samsung 840 Evo and on the first run it took about 13s and dropped as low as 90MB/s, on the second run it stayed at about 230MB/s and on the third run it dropped as low as 75MB/s.

Little slow 1.34GB file for 13s ? on X99 Mainboard 2-3 sec , ""but this is maybe SSD Caching take over"" Does not reflects real write speed Where HDD when it is starts to write at 150 MB it is finish same speed "can drop if HDD full " Where SSD starts at 500 MB finish at 150 MB still faster than HDD : )
Im reading that this write drop can be related to power management on my mainboard X99 will tray to play with the settings maybe Im wrong maybe SSD can copy more faster than 150 MB : )

I've got a Samsung Pro 840 512 GB, but for the amount of games I have I need an additional drive. Would this one be suitable?

I think this would be fine for games. Once you've copied them to it, you're only going to be reading from it, so the relatively poor write speeds aren't going to matter like they might with an OS drive.
