I don't really know to be honest, I read some guide that said EXFAT (default) was better for memory sticks as it gave the benefits of FAT32 but let you work with files over 4gb still. I think it's just a heating issue like how if a computer gets extremely hot it usually automatically shuts down to prevent damage which is what the memory stick is doing.

Have been checking this flash drive every day, even this afternoon - never in stock
I bought one of these 2 days ago on Amazon, it's really small and fast as transferring things but it has overheating issues that I've never seen before on a memory stick. if you transfer a few small files like songs, pictures or videos etc (Say a couple hundred MB at most) it's fine but if you try and transfer files that are a few GB in size it disconnects about halfway through and cancels half the transfer. Reviews on Amazon said this before I bought it so I knew what I was getting beforehand.

Wow, thanks for the heads up Haruhi. If I ever need so much storage in a small forma0\t, I would buy a microSD card then.

Could that be a simple formatting issue? I suspect the drive is shipped using FAT32, you need to change it to NTFS for larger files (4gb+).

I don't need. but want
I'm running short on space on the internal storage. whilst I could connect say a 4tb external 2.5" drive and add a lot of storage, it reduces the portability of the laptop and makes it a bit more restrictive, whilst the really small flash drives like these ones can be kept in the laptop all the time, even whilst putting the laptop in and out of it's backpack
it's not actually movies or anything like that, it's more work related and I like to keep things separated into specific folders rather than files all over various drives, so having large capacity drives means I can keep everything in one place that relates to a certain project

Picked up one for £22.99 on a lightning deal but this is a good price, too. Heat.

Much easier to hide from missus than bulky external hard drive.

Damn nice find. Been waiting for this to drop into the lower £20 region. Amazon has this on deal all the time but never low enough.
For the people whose worried about it getting hot, all USBs get hot, but not enough to damage your laptop. So stop worrying.

Here is a second person who wants to know why too. How much total storage do you plan for your laptop?

excellent deal, thanks for pointing out. i've been waiting to get a few of these cheap as theres no 2.5" drives bigger than 2tb that fit in a laptop yet. a good deal on a SD card over 128gb would be good. i missed the 200gb one at £60
there have been people saying this drive does get hot though, so i've got one to try before i get more for the other 4 USB sockets on the laptop

Mind if I ask why you need one for every USB port on your Laptop?
