This is what I did:

1.Request phone unlock via O2 live chat. I received the email 2 days later.
2. I requested a charger via O2 live chat. They very kindly sent one for free.
3. Rung O2 and asked to cancel airtime and pay off the phone.
4. Cancelled direct debit in case they charge you for first bill (only after doing the above step). They actually told me to do this (there were 2 direct debits to cancel).

As long as you do step 3 within 14 days and do not use the sim card, you won't be charged more than the £240 + £20 up front cost.

Nightmare with o2 and DPD delivery. Im still stuck with a phone that doesn't work since before xmas.
I waited all yesterday for a doorstep exchange. I'd had no emails or texts and when i called O2 they said I'd missed them and they left a card.
I CHECKED MY CCTV...NO DPD NO CARD. LIARS.
THEY WONT CANCEL MY CONTRACT UNTIL THEY RECIEVE THE DAMAGED PHONE!

I got the refurb deal, but I'm sending it back. 32Gb is not enough for me. I added my usual apps and a few games, some of my music and a few videos.
That only left me 2.5Gb for any photos of videos etc

Very nice phone, lovely screen, great camera. Very slippery though and a real fingerprint magnet.

Both good points, and it depends how much 'value' you put on the extra £90 and whether you can afford it or not.

Back on topic - are people finding the 32Gb enough? I know its not really 32Gb and more like 25Gb, and I'm trying to find the courage to hit the button to buy it.

Not sure if I'd like the smaller screen coming from a 6s Plus.

64Gb seem to be out of stock.
locktheworldout
24 Dec 15 1 #120
I think the extra £90 is worth it (if you've got it):

Samsung wireless charger - £30
Samsung adaptive charger - £10
Samsung earphones - £10
Additional 12 months warranty - £10
Residual value of an owned-from-new sim-free handset has to be at least £30 extra

That's aside from the whole cancelling contract and unlocking hassle (which admittedly goes smoothly for most, but a nightmare for some)

Heat added though

This is the cheaper deal. Unless you want to pay an extra £100 for the extra 1 year warranty and wireless charger, the rest is not true - there is no hassle to cancel the contract, it literally took a few minutes on live chat. This deal is sim free with a free unlock code (it takes 2 minutes to request it again via live chat) and (surprisingly) there is barely any "bloatware" on the phone - I think Samsung have learnt this time round!

You can get a free fast charger from support if you ask them with this deal too. So you're paying £100 for the wireless option, 1 extra year warranty and the fact that it is brand new and not grade A refurbished.

I would personally save the £100 but like you said its subjective :stuck_out_tongue:
shaggy

I'm wondering whether the £100 extra on the Argos deal might be worth it instead....

It's up to you but let me say this, as I got mine today:

1. The phone is as good as new from close examination. No noticeable scuffs, tiny scratches or dinks anywhere. It even comes plastered in protective film on the screen (as you'd expect) and on the back, front and sides.

2. I've hassled O2 on Live Chat and they will be sending a charger for free when they have stock apparently.

3. Live Chat also simply and quickly dealt with my request to unlock the phone. Email with code to do so should arrive within 7 days, likely half that, for free. No need to spend £10 on eBay to buy an unlock code.

So spending £100 more gets you a longer warranty, full boxed contents and wireless charger if you don't mind the hassle of the above.

Im on phone to 02 now. Seems a lot of confusion over sending the charging plug. I'm on hold for the 10th time....

My unlock code will be emailed to me within 72 hours but often takes only a couple of hours. Then I'll cancel the contract.
Email confirms my £8.99 fast charging plug is in it's way to me at a cost of £0.00

Ordered mine on Saturday, received on Monday. Perfect condition, called O2 and they cancelled airtime, took payment and requested unlock within 5 minutes or less. Received the unlock code the same night and all set!

The phones don't come with a charger plug as it's their initiative in which is trying to make people re-use their previous chargers, quite annoying in my opinion but hey, they're not too expensive should you need one.

Pretty chuffed with this deal!

Same here. As ive only just got the phone the imei and phone number aren't showing up on their system yet so I've been told to call back in 24hrs to 'unlatch' the phone and get the fast charging plug. Simple.

I think they didn't send the plugs out so they could get the orders posted out faster....? Competition is key at Xmas.

If you told them that you wanted to cancel within that period, they have to legally cancel the contract. You don't even have to say why.
Vistrix
21 Dec 15 1 #88
It's a bit of a pain but backing up your photos to a cloud service every now and then makes a big difference.

If you want to put a large collection of music on your phone and dont just stream them, then the 64GB version is a good deal.

I have had the phone for a few days, put all my apps onto it and taken quite a few photos and I have 19GB space left. You start with 25GB (not quite 32GB).

Samsung don't provide a 24 month guarantee for used phones.

A 12 month guarantee for a refurbished phone is quite decent. Other used phone sellers (Argos, CEX etc.) do the same thing.

Well I requested the unlock code at 11pm last night & received it this morning - very quick service.

I have just paid off the phone but had to be put on hold whilst they sorted my first airtime bill as the automated billing system created a bill right away for £13.50. They said that I should receive a credit to my account but I was to cancel my DD to make sure I don't get charged.

And, I have just realized I went into the wrong tariff - £29.99 upfront instead of the £19.99. Silly me!! Any great deal in any case other half will be happy with her Xmas pressie!!

So can you explain basically the steps I need to take to pay it off?

2. Then cancel the airtime and buy out the contract.

18 Dec 15 1 #57
You cancel the airtime contract and don't pay a thing for it.

You then "buy out" the phone which is £10 x 24 plus a £20 fee you pay when you first purchase.0

So when you ring, cancel the airtime (after receiving code), and then they will ask you to pay off the phone (£10 x 24).

Às far as I can see they haven't taken the £19.99 from my account so was wondering, cos my credit scores been a lil crap lately

They will unlock it whilst you're in contract, so you unlock it whilst you have the Refresh plan. Then once you have the code you cancel the plan within 14 days.

O2 have a very hassle free policy on unlocking, it's free and can be done at any point with a pay monthly contract. I had my code in just over 24 hours but turns out I didn't even need it as I didn't check to see if it was already unlocked. Says up to 72 hours online but as I mentioned before just make sure not to cancel the airtime before you get the code just in case your phone isn't unlocked.

EDIT:

Need to pay that off in full.
Just Wondering
14 Dec 15 #20
But will they unlock the phone if you still have the contract ? Or do they have to unlock phones legally theses days upon request ?

Ordered thankyou very much...

When cancelling Airtime will they give me option for paying off device price of £240 in full or will I have to pay as a direct debit of £10 a month for 24 mths?

what does it cost roughly to get a phone unlocked to use on a different network? 02 to EE

It comes unlocked I guess

Free, just make sure not to cancel the contract before you get the unlock code. Also possible it may come unlocked already if the previous owner did so, my Note 3 from another O2 Refresh deal was already unlocked when I received it.

If it's anything like that deal, then you'll get this in a small brown box with a cable in, O2 doesn't supply chargers normally so make sure you have a quick charge one already otherwise this will charge slower.

I think its locked to 02 so would need to get it unlocked somewhere.

On receiving the phone call the customer care. Mention you want to cancel airtime contract and are ready to pay device charge. Do not use the sim. Everything done for u.

Not on O2 Refresh. You can pay off the device balance and cancel the airtime. If you search for Refresh deals previously posted there is a lot of info available.
