Love this phone. Tried G4 before deciding on note. LG is more compact but I like amoled screen a lot more. And battery life is better on Samsung.
Samsungs own protective cover comes highly recommended. Best case I could find.

Compared to most OEMs Samsung's firmware is pretty good - stable & feature rich. If you want to see how bad things can be, try a Chinese handset like an Elephone

I'd had my eye on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for a while (in Black) and it was around the £366 mark for a good few weeks leading up to Black Friday. I was gonna buy it about a week before BF, but decided to hold off to see if the price dropped a little.
The price didn't fall at all and ended up selling out via Amazon but was still on sale with MPS @ the much higher price to £450+. No thanks!
I did come back in stock eventually @ £366 from Amazon and I immediately snapped one up knowing they do not last long.
If anyone is interested, there's some great accessories available (both Samsung & quality 3rd party):
And if there was actually a 5.1.1 firmware available for my Note 3, I would install it.
But there isn't. Samsung have never released it. (Wasn't last time I checked anyway and sammobile appears to be down at the moment)
And even 5.1.1 is a few iterations behind. And there are no plans for Marshmallow on the Note 3.
Never used to be a problem as everyone was in the same boat pretty much. Since Google started doing the Nexus devices though, thats changed. They update quickly, everyone else has to wait. And how long you have to wait is anyones guess. Depends on both manufacturer and carrier.
There is nothing wrong with my Note 3 except for the speed it gets updates at. Or doesn't.
Nope. Much as love my s-pen, I think I'm finally going to give up on it and go Nexus.

Keep an eye on the Amazon Warehouse. I just got my Note 4 from them today 'used - very good' for £287. It wasn't without it's hassle though.
Phone 1 - was damaged by the courier whilst out for delivery
Phone 2 - was covered in scratches so went straight back
Phone 3 - debatable if this box had ever been opened as all the seals were intact and all the covers were still on it and not a mark on the phone either.
Happy days :-) Had to put it back in the box and give back to my wife though - don't get it for another 14 days :disappointed:

The great thing about Samsung is that is is super easy to flash whatever firmware you want - no root, no nothing. Just download whatever official firmware you like from Sammobile (e.g. the latest Generic 5.1.1 UK firmware which has no branding) and use ODIN (which is pretty easy to use) to flash it.

If you can live with fixed 32/64GB storage and a sealed battery (although fast charging is ... ridiculously fast), then the upgrade to Note 5 is worth it! The software alone is enough of a reason for the upgrade. If you're willing to root and put a new ROM on your Note 4, then that is a good option too.
Everyone is different, but of the two - expandable storage and removable battery - I know it will be the removable battery option I will miss one day. Going from 0 to 100% charge in 10 seconds was a great feeling the few times I did it.

I have Note 4
Have been looking for Note 5 , but after glass back and none SD card + very very expensive 64GB - I bought Note 4
Some say glass is premium for me none slip back is premium .
Note 4 is the best balance between metal and plastic as frame is feel metal and back soft plastic feels good grip in the hand
Note 5 Yes it have better new software , same way better camera , but glass and none SD it is downgrade
Why SD card important record 4k Video and will see how quick memory full .
This is my opinion the best 5.7 Inch phone at the moment "not because I have Note 4 "
I phone 6 Plus Yes it is good phone as well nothing wrong with performance etc, but Note 4 is cheaper and I do prefer android more freedom for me "do not like Itunes sync PC"

Some people are talking about holding off in purchasing the Note 4 and waiting for Note 5 to be released in the UK. I will admit Note 5 will look better, feel better but in reality one factor that will ensure Note 4 (and note 3 and previous models) will have a upper hand is the fact that Note 4 Battery is accessible easily and if you like you can increase the mAh if you prefer by 3rd party battery.
The Note 5 will have fixed in battery - meaning over time, the phone will depreciate as well as the battery. With Note 4 you can simply slip off the back and replace with a new one.
My advice - buy a Note 4 and you're good for 3 to 4 years minimum.

I have bought (and later sold) many phones this year with the intention of replacing the Note 4, but to no avail. For me the Note 4 is still the best phone on the market - MicroSD expansion, great display, removable battery, great build quality, decently fast SoC, good developer community. There is really very little reason to move to a newer device, as everything else has compromises.

Im currently still running a Note 3.
Much as I love the Note series (mainly for the s-pen which I use a lot for note taking at work), I think my next device is going to be a Nexus. (6p probably)
Why? Updates. They are simply too slow to come out now for the Note 3. If they come out at all.
Same will start happening for the Note 4 soon enough.
Yes, you can root things and stay up to date that way. But you shouldn't have to and I can't be bothered.
With the mess they made with Bluetooth on Lollipop, mine still isn't right months later. I'm stuck on 5.0. No release date available for 6.0 at all. No sign of 5.1 or 5.2.
I'm sick of waiting ages for the Google > Samsung > Three chain to get updates.
It's annoying. The Note 3 is still plenty powerful enough. But as it's not new enough, you wait forever to get updates. Suppose they have to force sales of newer devices somehow....
Pure Android from now on.

Should be expired now - can't see Amazon returning to the £366 price now even for the White one. They get snapped up immediately and Amazon knows it, that's why they've pushed the price up.

No,- one big difference the Note 5 is completely crippled by having a sealed battery and no memory expansion.
The Note 2 to 3, and 3 to 4 transitions were real advances and price drops were expected and realised on the outgoing models.
The Note 4 will hold it's value whilst it's still available !

Yes but when the Note 3 came out the 2 dropped in the same month as sim free deals then went back up a little, also the exact thing happened when the 4 came out and the Note 3 dropped price in the end I didn't get a sim free Note 3 as the monthly contract price also dropped so went for that instead.
So going on past I think it fair to say we might get a repeat.

Managed to grab one from Amazon Italy for £294 the other week. A few others had problems receiving theirs so I was a little worried. But everything turned out OK and the phone is great. If you do try the Italy route, pay a fiver more for quicker shipping. Mine came by UPS

I doubt that very much, by all accounts Samsung are struggling with S6 and Note 5 sales. The Note 4 will still be in demand - sure the less desirable White ones may go a bit lower but you will be lucky to get brand new UK spec sealed Sim free Black ones for under £350 !

The White one has been £366 on and off for some time BUT the Black one is now showing at £437 - I fear the bird has flown for the Black one at least.

Flyer01 to evanhartshorne
8 Dec 15#8
Exactly! There is no such thing as 'price', just a minimum sum of money that someone thinks they can pry from someone else on any given day. Amazon will use fancy software to calculate how many people are searching for/looking at/buying an item within a certain period of time, and set their price accordingly, whilst other sellers will simply set a rip-off price and cross their fingers that a desperate/silly buyer takes the bait.
The imminent official release of the Note 5 in the UK should see a marked drop in the used Note 4 price as a flood of used Note 4s hit the market. The New Note 4 price will also fall as a result, though the drop won't be as marked as that of the used market.

Had a note 4 but went back after randomly dropping calls. Went to Samsung three times after which Three replaced it for something else.
A lovely phone however beware of screen burn, I had some ghosting after three months. This also happened with my S4 and I think typical of AMOLED
