i have my sandisk running at all times in my macbook and its never been an issue that its hot. Yes it does get hot but it causes no problems. So i would go for this one, I'm thinking about getting another one actually so will pick this up

Jeeze, it's amazing how tiny these things can get! How long until you can get 500GB this size?!
capacity/size = amazing.
It makes me feel so old thinking what drives used cost :disappointed:

Probably a minor point but on both of my SanDisk Ultra Fit drives the plastic snapped around the lanyard fixing point so I can no longer have them on my keyring. All else being equal I would now go for a metal drive. I also wonder if it helps with heat dissipation.

What is the speed like on these top end USB 3.0 devices? I know they are no where near SSD speeds, but are they faster than bog standard HDDs? Reason I ask is about to buy a cheapy laptop that comes with a 32GB SSD as standard and am considering using one of these permanently in the USB 3.0 port for additional storage. How does it stack up to a normal HD in terms of speed, reliability etc?

Got mine today and did speed test on blackmagic on the Mac. The left wasn't great, 40 odd but the right side was over 140

Good price for a named brand product, write speeds have been tested and proven at around 80 MB/s on Windows 10 and slightly fast for OSX...so good speeds, but not the best .
