Picked up magazine in whsmiths this morning Norwich

The rarity and hype of this issue makes me want to go out and buy it even though I don't need it. I've got one of the other versions and if I get this one it'll probably gather dust too.

well in the course of doing what i had to do today, i went in to two asdas, a wh-smiths, a tesco and a morrisons and didn't see a sign of any of them anywhere so i really am out now. i'll probably wait until the 10th to see if this second print run actually happens, otherwise i'll leave it.

it seems to suggest that most of the copies of the magazine across the country have gone. they've put together a map of outlets that they believe still have some, but two of the ones near me are two of the ones i went to today and who are sold out, so there's certainly no guarantee of accuracy.

it says they estimate a new batch of issues available december the 10th.

no stock in leatherhead or online... anyone know if http://www.newsstand.co.uk/110-Other-Computer-Magazines/21908-Subscribe-to-THE-MAGPI-Magazine-Subscription.aspx will send the pi aswell?

just been to my local sainsburys and smiths with no luck. on my way to tesco but only because I need to go anyway - not going to trawl around half the country looking for one

none in tesco so I'm out. if I'm passing somewhere that has magazines over the next few days then I'll have a nose but I'm not going on a wild goose chase

Got one in Smiths Brighton (Churchill Square) this morning. Showed it to a friend 5 mins later who went back to Smiths and they had sold out, so you definitely need to be a bit lucky!

As you'll need to buy all the converters (unless you already have a load of micro USB/HDMI/SD connectors and GPIO headers!) you would be better off buying this AND the extension kit at the same time. I expect EBay will be selling these together for a good price.

who expired this? I'm sure some shops might still have it, somebody else has reposted.

how does it connect to network?

I tried 4 places and nothing. I don't need one, but I would like a retropie box.

Bought one from sainsburys this morning quite a few left.
Just been Looking at them on eBay £21 -2 bids and one has been put on an hour ago and has gone up to £6.50 already

Pick one up at WHSmith clapham junction, they had a few. This isn't expired, it will probably gather dust next to my other RPi, regardless it is very near.

Same at Manchester Airport (T1 or Central)

I used to work in I.T. and program in a lot of the stuff that works on the PI, so in that respect, I suppose I could pick it up again if i put my mind to it, but at this point in my life I don't think i've got the patience any more to sit at it for hours on end and try to get it to work :smiley:

the initial run was for 10,000 magazines according to a site i read, so i would expect that to be gone very quickly. but if there are new batches due in.

I don't think i'm as technically minded any more to get something like this and make something decent, but at the price, it's a no brainer really - has to be worth a punt if i can get one.

Picked up last 2 on shelf at Tesco Pool, lady was stocking shelf and mentioned that lots of people had been buying these all day and picking up a couple of copies each, she couldn't understand why it was so popular and all had gone within a day :stuck_out_tongue: She didn't say if they had any more copies to restock. Then made a quick visit to Poundland where they have micro HDMI to Full size HDMI cables for you've guessed it, £1... Worth a look if you're passing and need a cable for yours :smile:

I just tried Tesco and Sainsbury's in Kensington. No joy unfortunately. Not sure if it sold out or they never stocked it in the first place.

Thanks for the post - got one from WHS - It's good to get the magazine too, if you're going to give it as an xmas gift to a child - gives them a few ideas on the uses for it.

Got it this morning from my local WHSmith.

I went to my local smiths and there was nothing in there unfortunately.

I managed to get one first thing in WHSmiths in Seaford this morning. Stood over the poor girl while she unpacked the new mags to go on the shelves, bless her she was very patient! :smile:

Fun gadget, unheard of to get a computer free with a magazine. Not particularly useful without extra cables though.

The pi site claims this only went on sale today, so maybe only going live this morning.

edit - yes it is. I checked this morning well before this deal was posted. OP unless you have an alternative supplier I'm missing, you should have checked this yourself.
