Just saw the John lewis deal (1TB vs 500gb) for the same items but for £30 more and with Argos you get an extra game... Depends what storage you want...

I just got a ps4 went with the 1TB version and very glad I did after finding out some games can take up 50gb HD space, such as arkham knight, when using a disc. Also the actual HD space is just over 800GB.
So for me personally 500gb is too small as I plan on owning more than 10 games over the lifespan of the console. I know not all games are that big, but I'm still taking that into account.

You can delete the content if you are finished the game. 10 active games at any one time is more than enough Imo

Installing only takes around 20-30 seconds, so deleting and reinstalling really is a breeze. Doesn't suffer the horrible install times Xbox one has

My bad. I didn't realise that info was so out of date. They rolled out new ones pretty fast!

Ignore that link, its referring to the 1tb 'for the players' console which was the older model with an increased hard drive - all the other 1tb consoles are revised models so theres nothing to worry about

All the COD bundles seem OOS for me, both home deliv and store pick up. Anyway, managed to nab the last ps4 500gb with cod from amazon for £250. If anyone else is interested, there's always one that comes back in stock now n then [on amazon]

save all your game save to a external hard drive or to the cloud....
Are you sure of this. I see the link was completed in Aug. I was under the impression the latest 1tb (star wars) was the new type. I may be wrong though!!

For £270? Which is roughly the net cost of the console plus a 2TB hard drive?
You see, this is what I don't understand about people who wade in to console threads and talk about building PCs as an alternative, because the comparative costs are so different. On current console deals for PS4 and Xbox One the net console cost is about £200-£220. The average person (who, for clarification, does not have the skills to build the rig themselves) would need to spend three times that at least to get a decent gaming desktop PC.
The PC vs Console debate is highly subjective, but suggesting in this thread that someone builds a PC as an alternative to buying a PS4 is like posting in the £84.99 3DS thread and suggesting that someone buys an Xbox One with a TV instead. It's just wrong time and wrong place.

You can get the same deal at Argos with GTA 5 instead of COD if anyone prefers that.
I know you've explained why you want to have room for more games, which is fine, but again with PS Plus downloads once you've 'purchased' them they will remain on your downloads list to download whenever you want, so you can always get them again even if you have deleted them and they've been removed from PS Plus.

I felt that would cost much more in the long run, worst case if I hit the 800GB limit could uninstall some games but prefer not to if possible
That is true, just my personal preference I like having my games installed for picking up and playing whenever I want, like you say though I could probably keep the 10 best installed but I'm just picky/choosy.
In addition to this though, with playstation plus (necessary to play games like CoD online) it comes with 2 free games a month, which arent usually that big but feel it worth having extra HD space for it.
