UPDATE ****59p TODAY*******
These are really delicious, and you can easily buy 5 of these to make up your £50 with voucher spend. I would get 10 of these.
The price in Morrisons is £2 and around same in most supermarkets. Were 89p last week in Lidl.
I know its a deal on fruit and HUKD users aren't particularly fond of fruit i.e. the juices and potential sticky fingers could leave marks on our PS4 pads, Moto Gs and damage our Chinese imported b/tooth watches (especially if you have the white strapped version like me). Although quality streets and malteser stains are acceptable.
If you are not sure the best time to eat these I would advise after a few packets of crisps or pork scratchings. A pomelo offsets the saltiness nicely.
If you are on prescription meds (list at link) there is a possibility of interaction for most of the listed drugs: https://www.evidence.nhs.uk/formulary/bnf/current/a1-interactions/list-of-drug-interactions/grapefruit-juice

be aware that if you are on any prescription pills that clash with grapefruit, you also should avoid pomelo. which is a shame as i really like grapefruit/pomelo juice.

Great price and a great tasting fruit!
It takes a little more work to peel than an orange or grapefruit but it's all so worth it.

Isn't a grapefruit a cross between the pomelo and an orange.
They are nice, not as sharp as grapefruit, easy to eat as the juice doesn't go everywhere.

Well in Spanish pomelo means grapefruit, and when you see them on the stall the ticket will say pomelo but the little sticker on the fruit will say grapefruit.

Love pomelos  heat from me.
I find the best way to eat these is to peel all the segments then pop it in the fridge. Then when it's chilled, it'll be ready to eat and you can eat as much as you like in one go.
Takes more time to prepare at the start but you'll enjoy the fruit more without having to stop and peel.

You say Borneo but I know you mean Malaysia. That dish you had might have been rojak but it's not common to have prawns in it. The main dish I know that would have pomelo, chilli, and peantuts in it would normally be served during Chinese New Year and is commonly (colloquially) known as loh sang.

I wouldn't say it's relatively new in the UK, maybe to most mainstream big supermarkets. These are very seasonal fruits that most Asian supermarkets will stock them especially Chinese ones around China Town. My folks have tried Lidl ones recently & they are quite sour & bitter but what do you expect when you pay 99p for one.
If you want sweeter & tastier ones then I suggest you try some from Chinese supermarkets who know very well the local Chinese are very fussy eaters who demand the best. You pay more but will taste far much better. Sometimes it's much better to pay more for better quality. If you're OK with sour & bitter then 99p is fair price what you pay for.

20 Dec 15#47
Sour and bitter? That's quite an achievement! Maybe you've had too much sweet and sour.

They are the sweet ones, they are not the best quality ones so they are not super sweet and some are quite bland. You do get the occasional one that is bland or bitter, maybe even sour. But for the price they are decent. Even if you get one from Chinatown you still might get a dud sometimes.
The sections are supposed to be drier than an orange and the texture kind of pops like a citrus caviar. You can put them in salads. It you want a juicier one get the rounder ones, the ones with a big peak are older, drier and more likely to have big pips.

Reply from typical hkud muppet - the fact is, it was 10% cheaper recently - that fact doesn't change unless, as you say you have a time machine. If it was cheaper a week ago, how can I vote this hot? If it was cheaper a month ago then yes.

Got some od these from Tesco 10p each as couldn't be scanned when delivered. Not very impressed. Maybe a fruit that should be allowed to be served in native country so its ripe when eating bit like buying figs in the UK from most supermarkets they are a tint of green still followed by a bit of purple. Goto the country where they grown and they are nr black. Melt in the mouth and taste absolutely gorgeous
