I picked up one of these in the Chichester Sainsburys for £50 today, they had 3 left. They were also selling a Russell Hobbs Wine Fridge for £40 (From £160) but I already have one of those so left it!

What are the best kind of chips to use in these things? Oven chips, or ones designed to be deep fried? Or even (perish the thought) potatoes that you've peeled and cut up yourself?
The Mrs is getting one for Christmas (I'm a bit of a romantic when it comes to Christmas - last year I splashed out on a Dyson) so I'm planning ahead.

I've been waiting for this to go down again after I missed the Black Friday deal, hoping my local has one too! Heat, thanks!

Use ours everyday more or less, very simple and easy to use. Paid around £80 on offer so this is a great deal.

Are you joking? Do you even own one? I've cooked, chips, jacket potato's, sausages, chicken, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, etc etc (keep buying different things to try, not found anything it's not good at yet).
We just rinse it out, takes 10 seconds. A couple of times a week we then chuck the basket in the dishwasher, job done.

mine cleans really easy. How is it hard to clean? Its only hard if you let it build up and its easier to clean when hot

One of these wasn't on my horizon at all, I only checked the regular price because the wine fridge was noticeably cheap. When I saw they normally go for £150 and had mostly 5* reviews I decided to pick one up, I do like my chips so hopefully better than from the oven! (also my oven is electric so often takes as long to warm up as it does to cook food!)

Don't criticize until you've tried, I never fancied one of these but when they dropped to £50 at Tesco I bought one, used it nearly every day since.... Great tasting, fast cooking, healthy and a doddle to clean...

Yep this is just a mini oven basically in disguise, the chips are crap from this..
I use my proper fryer and the chips are just a million times better in every respect, this is just a gimmck that 95% of the population have had fed to them and don't have the intelligence to know how to fry a chip properly as they have all been spoonfed oven chips all these years

Just checked 2 in Portsmouth, none in stock (both on way home, no goose chase for me
It's available in all stores that stock the item so not store specific and was reduced to make way for the new christmas lines. Was on offer at £100 when it was introduced for the Black Friday sales week.
I think you're missing the point of this. It's supposed to be a healthier alternative to a fryer.

I thought the healthy way to fry now is to use dripping or lard. All oils are toxic aren't they(_;) (well according to a programme I saw on TV a couple of months ago)

Picked up this evening for £50 - last one in stock - picked up a bag of cheap basic chips to go with it.
No oil, amazing, this reason alone is worth it for youngsters (with all this obesity crisis business)!
For the extra health-conscious make your own chips with organic spuds (or any root veg?!) - this may require a little oil.
edit: i think this is being discontinued for the new version with the buttons and digital display? I prefer this analogue dial version, this is 0.8kg, the bigger one is 1.2kg - but thats about £100 or over.

I have a halogen oven which is OK for chips chips as long as you buy the better type. As a mini oven it's great. I do miss the taste of fried chips but I wont put up with the smell of a fryer in my room. Are these air fryers actually 'fryers' or any different to a halogen oven?

as mentioned in another thread on these, great for Russian roulette with your toes. The base has a habit of detaching from the basket during the periodic shake that's required.
