Has anyone managed to get a Sky+ HD remote working with this TV?
I've tried the Philips codes on the Sky website and can get the control to adjust the volume and switch the TV off, but not switch it back on again.
Mine's the 50 inch version but I imagine it'd use the same code as the 55.
Thanks!

yes GTA V - PS4 without game mode on lag is noticeable. but with Game mode on its fine. I did update to latest firmware so I guess that helps.

Stupidly, on this set game mode does not function as you would expect on most TV's... It's just a picture preset rather than a low latency mode.
Instead you have to manually turn off all the picture processing to get the lag down a bit. One review mentions lag gets as high as 70ms, rather than the published 50.
Chrome is available on it, you have to send it to the Shield via the play store web page not app and use side launcher, oh and you need a mouse to work it. Also like all Android devices of you don't like the launcher then you can change it by doing the same thing. Android TV is designed out of the box to be simple on purpose, don't like it being so then its easily changeable.

No, but the apps themselves lack a decent amount of features which means more often than not I end up using my phone to Cast to it instead. The home screen launcher is also as basic as it gets; there's essentially no options for customisation which is pitiful considering this has always been Android's main selling point. There's no Chrome. There's not even a news/weather widget. It really does very little to set itself apart from all the other proprietary Smart TV interfaces, which is a real shame.

That's kind of invalid... The apps you mention are for productivity and are therefore relatively unnecessary for an entertainment platform. The streaming of content from another device however, is completely relevant and useful for the platform of television.

What lacklustre support? The only App missing that they do that a TV would use is Photo's, you seriously think it should have Gmail, maps, calendar etc?

You can't simply allow a App designed for use on a touchscreen onto a format that doesn't have a touchscreen! App developers have to redesign their apps to use a remote input instead for Android TV, that isn't something Google can magically wave a wand and do themselves.

Yes, £499 is for the 50" screen. Ordered 55" yesterday and just awaiting delivery. Looks great for the price.
Yes, but they do make the Google apps which are mostly quite poor, they're responsible for the lack of functionality in the TV launcher and they've yet to update the Chromecast support as I said.

I own the 40 inch version. Great TV capable of some stunning pictures. The default settings are awful though. There is a good review of it online that suggests much better settings and is worth a read. Android apps a bit limited (no Spotify annoyingly) but I am impressed with it so far.
TheVoice to aden_76

The lack of Spotify is a huge annoyance, especially when the Chromecast supports it via the mobile app yet the TVs don't. Google are really letting Android TV down with the lack of decent support for it.

Was curious how many hours the expected annual usage was. Yearly total is 98kWh at power of 67 watts.

I think it's fair to say this is a great but low price for a 4K TV of its size. And you basically get what you pay for.
