Not any more, Phillips isn't Phillips now but a Chinese manufacturer producing them under the Phillips brand.
No better than a Vestel nowadays I'm afraid.

I thought they gave up manufacturing TVs so is this just a re-branded set made by someone else?

I bought the 40 " version of this on Thursday and it's just woeful. The image really struggles when there is a lot of motion. It's a bit dark in the 4 corners, menu navigation is slow, takes ages to turn on and boot into android tv, doesn't support major file types, amazon prime, 4od or many other major apps. I'm taking it back this weekend.

Couldn't agree more! My NAS and HTPC take care of smart features, just need a TV with a decent refresh rate for gaming.
I've got a 50" Samsung, the screen tearing and motion blur during fast gaming is terrible :disappointed:

Let me know if you find one - that's pretty much all I want as well!
And four HDMI ins, not this nonsense in which they only give you two because you can’t handle the responsibility of any more.

Shame the input lag is so high, I need a new TV and I will use it for a lot of gaming.

Well, I’m not so sure. The parent company of the offshoot that makes Philips branded televisions is also responsible for AOC monitors. I’m not clear how much crossover there is, but the company is founded on display technology, and my monitors have been AOC for quite a while, so maybe it’s a good sign.
Talking of which, is Vestel really all that bad in 2015? It’s likely that people’s memories of short-lifespan tellies made by Vestel of the past when they were up and coming, are still tainting the image of Vestel now*. Much like the reverse process, whereby the past image of Bush and Pye** and Grundig rely on people who grew up in the ’60s and ’70s to permeate the notion that they were well-made reliable products that maybe only needed a change of a triode valve every few years and a knock on the side every few weeks and it’ll last for generations.
* I wonder how the recent trade friction between Russia and Turkey is going to affect Vestel-sourced Panasonic etc. sales to the Russian market?
** Now there’s an old brand waiting for some cheap importer to snap up and cash in on!

Vestel isn't that bad these days, they haven't ended up being as big as they are by accident. My comparison is simply because Phillips sets aren't the high quality premium well built TV's they once were, they are more like the rebranded Vestel sets you see wearing a Toshiba or Panasonic badge nowadays rather than the brand they once were but obviously that quality cost and the market won't pay the price for it hence why Phillips offloaded their A/V divisions.

The Philips is actually very good. Its better than equivalent LGs and Pansonics and Sony. Go see it for yourself in store... I saw a lower model in Sainsburys and the detail is produced was top notch.

Should have got a 2014 or 2015 Sony as they are among the lowest for input lag around. Currys I got mine for £550 for a 50" over 1000 refresh rate and just amazing colours and blacks not to mention x-reality pro engine http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/sony-bravia-kdl50w809cbu-smart-3d-50-led-tv-10122392-pdt.html gone back up to £650 now. No 3D glasses but lets be hoenst you dont get a qaulity 1080p tv like this for 3D.. If you really want 4k then forget gaming. It's either one or the other unless you get a monitor.

There's an easy way to fix it. What you need to do is call two mates up and take the TV into the garden. Then perform the reset procedure like this:
Next, get a time machine and go back to last year and pick up a lovely Plasma TV instead.

The HD & 4K picture on this is fantastic, but is anyone else finding SD content really poor on this?
Trying to watch the football on SD Sky Sports and the picture isn't very good at all. The picture on our 50" TV downstairs is far better for SD.
