No don't trust people when they say PES is better. It has alot of problems and doesn't feel like football more like ping pong. FIFA 16 you actually have to use tactics and unlike previous versions can't just run straight for the goal with Messi and score a silly amount of goals. Thats why some are complaining about FIFA this year. They want it to play itself. Trust me buy FIFA and you can thank me later.

A shame that the XBOX version doesn't let you load edited option files like the PS4 version. The game is good but even on the hardest difficulty I find it is too easy.

Many have been complaining about Fifa every year, the ability to not dribble past half the opposition team with one player is not the only complaint you will hear. Fifa still feels as scripted as ever, the only real difference I see this year is that the game slowed down a bit.
PES have let me down with the keeper issue - by not fixing it. Especially as I play 'Superstar' difficulty. It is frustrating when your hard work defensively or hard work with a slow build up plays finding a way to unlock the opposition defence to score a goal is then ruined when the opposition hits a weak shot and your keeper fumbles it in the goal. If not for that (I use option files so squad updates do not bother me) I'd go as far as saying that it is probably the best football game ever as IGN have suggested.

Of course there will be a PES 2017. You've kinda contradicted yourself tbh in saying that it's sales have been pretty much the same over the last number of years. Why release 16 if 15 sales were so bad etc?
FIFA is always going to sell more too because of them hogging all the key licences - people are shallow I'm afraid. I'm glad I bought PES and enjoy it much more than I ever did in the last 6 years of buying FIFA.

Is this really better than FIFA 16 though?

Not played Fifa this year, but I have been a Fifa buyer for a number of years now. This year I bit the bullet and went back to PES, and I've not been disappointed. Fifa wins hands down on options, game modes and fancy graphics - but for years I lost the ideal of what playing football games is all about......the fun of matches themselves. For me, PES is miles ahead in this area. And this area is the only thing that matters.

I think PES 2016 flopped hard. According to vgcharts all 5 versions of PES have sold less than half a million. When you compare to FIFA 16 which is approaching 10 million its a massive flop and no wonder its going free to play. I doubt their will even be a PES 2017 with those sales.
