Sorry, but this yet another cheapo shortbread that uses rapeseed oil to replace most of the butter that it should contain.

It doesn't taste good, and it's very little cheaper, if any, than the Aldi or Lidl all butter shortbread.

This sort of muck seems to be peddled around Christmas time when people will buy anything with the word 'shortbread' on the packet! Be warned. :confused:

Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin) , Rapeseed Oil , Sugar , Butter (Milk) , Salt , Natural Flavouring , Raising Agent (Sodium Carbonates) .

This stuff is AWFUL there's ZERO buttery flavour it just tastes like other hard tasteless biscuits, garbage don't buy it

Paterson's shortbread is sold all year round. These Scottish bakers have been going since 1895.

It's owned by Houston (Holdings) Limited now and the present set-up seems to have started around 1995 - presumably the original family sold out at some point.

Whatever the background, though, this is not what any true Scot (or anyone else for that matter) would regard as shortbread. Shortbread contains flour and butter - not flour and rapeseed oil! The original Patersons would spin in their graves if they knew what was being pushed out in their name now!

This really is not nice stuff. Don't be conned by the genuine-sounding name and the fancy packet.

Just get the Lidl or Aldi own brand, 32-33% Butter, plus Wheatflower+Sugar,Salt. Shortbread should contain 4 Ingredients, maybe vitamins, but thats it. Around 50p.

Morrisons have similar priced own label shortbread, but note, only contains 17% butter. Morrisons 'Premium' shortbread with a similar 33% butter content is sold at 3x the price of Aldi/Lidl, around £1.50.

Don't be ripped off.

Asda's own brand are better than Patersons.

They do lack taste but at two for 1.50 they are ok.

Yep same price as Tesco, bought some yesterday. Much nicer than the Tescos own brand one we usually get and cheaper.

If you want proper shortbread the key ingredient is butter and usually the higher butter content biscuits are the best. These are a cheap, tasteless shortcake rather than shortbread biscuit? The only positive is that they are much less fattening than real shortbread.
