This is handy if, say for example, you had a car. During ownership of said car, you decided drive into London, assuming that you were not already resident or present in London, or possibly that you were - but not with the vehicle. When in London with said car and you wanted to visit a shop or retail unit, you could leave the vehicle at one of the NCP establishments referenced in the description above because most shops and retail units will not permit motor vehicles in the premises due to health and safety concerns. Drive through fast food outlets don't count as technically you would not be inside the premises.
Of course, all of this runs with the caveat that the scenario described immediately above is relatively imminent and that your choice of motor vehicle is not an articulated lorry, or vehicle of similar stature.

In Westminster it is £3.20 per hour on a meter, that can only be paid by phone.
Plus you have the congestion charge . Better to park for free in a residential. Street on the outskirts of London, or for free in woodgreen multi story shopping centre and get aa one day travel card/oyster card for public transport.

I had a meeting at Microsoft HQ in London which was expected to last around 6 hours. I was wondering whether to just pay a £60 ticket but managed to get a charity to lend me a parking space....for a donation instead! That car journey was a nightmare, stuck in traffic for hours and no car parking spots ANYWHERE. I hate when companies / governemnt just decide to throw everything to London :@

I always drive to London, but if its Sat/Sun offer only then only worthwhile for the Sat as its free on Sundays to park on a meter in the street anyway

Generally true, however just be careful; some Controlled parking zones (CPZ) extend not only to Sundays but also into late evenings.
