I've got one and very happy with it. Zoom is amazing. Picture quality is decent for a bridge camera. Video is very good as well, even better than my Sony camcorder. And last but not least is the price.

Good luck getting this delivered, John Lewis have lost the plot. Their customer services team are dismal too.

You seem to be slagging them off on any JL related threads I've been on today. Never had an issue with delivery from them and I've spent alot from them. Also just got a 2 year old iPad Air replaced for a brand new off the shelf one, which was only possible because they were offering a year longer warranty over everyone else. Now I have a 3 year warranty on the new one so......

I bought this camera from John Lewis when the £60 cash back deal was on. Smart Pee, unless there is some way for a person currently looking for an FZ72 to get the £60 cash back offer now, would you not agree that this is a decent camera at a decent price?
As for the customer service from john Lewis, I experienced a problem with my camera and they put it right straight away. Mistakes happen, it's about how they are dealt with.
2 year guarantee according to the EU is one thing but trying to argue that point with a lot of retailers can be a huge headache! JL offer a bit of piece of mind.
Not quite, John Lewis are offering a 2 year retail warranty - i.e. you can return it to the store. EU warranty is 6 months at the retailer, 18 months with the manufacturer, which is often worthless or a lot more hassle.
Had this camera a few weeks now and reasonably happy with it. I think I can improve the pictures I'm getting as I get used to its manual options. Many users recommend turning the noise reduction down, which requires departing from the automatic mode.
Here's a couple of pictures taken at close to full zoom, the squirrel shot was handheld in iffy light.
Although I know we don't have time machines this isn't the cheapest the camera has been as it was £169 plus £30 cashback (giving total after cashback of £139) @ Amazon on the 22nd of October...I know because my Dad was after one and I'd been keeping an eye on the prices and when it dropped he bought one...
Also possibly worth noting Panasonic did double cashback over the Christmas period last year...not saying they'll do it again but if you're on the fence about this camera and are in no rush possibly worth waiting to see if they do double cashback again....I bought this camera then and it worked out at £155 after cashback.

Yes you will, assuming that you still have the box and receipt.
Moon test using FZ72 + DMW LT55E 102x optical zoom here.
Similar to using Nikon Coolpix P900 83x optical zoom here. Can't wait for this camera to fall below £350, might be a long wait still.
The size of the moon in both vids seem the same. I would have expected a bigger difference from 83x to 102x magnification.

Its not very useful to compare the X times zoom. Because it depends on what the 1X is, ie the widest angle. To figure out how big something will appear, better to compare the equivalent focal lengths.
So checking the specifications, for focal length (in 35mm equivalent):
Lumix FZ72: 20 - 1200mm
Lumix FZ72 + DMW LT55E: 34 - 2040 mm
Coolpix P900: 24 to 2000 mm
So at max zoom, the FZ72 with the teleconverter is about the same as the Coolpix. Plus when zoomed out, the FZ72 can give a wider view.
Also the moon can appear bigger at certain times, so those videos may not be an fair comparison.

They are probally fine if you purchase in store but I would be very wary about placing an order online.
I placed an order for a D3200 I think it was, which was on HUKD at the time as the best deal going. Shortly afterwards I recieved an email (not a phone call) saying that my order had been cancelled as I failed their security checks and would need to reorder over the phone. I've never had any issues ever with my card before and so was a bit bemused. Guess what, when I called them, the item was no longer in stock. Well it was but at a higher price. When I explained what had happened they were more than happy to place an order at the igher price but unable to re-instate the order I placed ealier! I only had dealings over the phone but this has not left a good impression.

Nikon COOLPIX P900 with 83x Optical Zoom is £419.99 on SLRHut.co.uk. Cheapest in the UK by quite a bit (but can't post as a deal on HUKD probably because they are based in the US so grey imports; they have a UK website and phone number).
Anyone dealt with this shop before? Their site states they prepay all import duties and VAT, you only pay the price shown. They are a Google Certified Shop, ratings here.

Don't forget f2.8 is at 20mm, likely to be f3.5 at 28mm rising to f5.9 at 1200mm. Incredible zoom range though.
