Finger print unlock doesn't work with cake on your fingers!

What Malware lol? There isn't any. Miui even has its own security software.

Wouldn't the malware just take your details once you log onto the account? (ie sign in or up to Google etc?)

I use the miui stable rom. You can change the language of it after the initial set up which is what I did. I've been using it for almost 2 months now and have experienced no issues tbh. I just installed a custom recovery and then rooted my phone so I could uninstall/ freeze some bloatware but other than that its good. If you want the stock look, there's also an aosp rom so you can get the stock look.

This is Chinese rom yes? I'm trying to avoid this because of malware etc.
Global doesn't have Mi store?

They've sold almost 10 million of these, which I think is plenty. Also, putting a Rom on is easy, there's forums on Xda. Putting gapps on is very easy, type in google on the mi app store, click on second link (search on beidu) and it should come up. It will be in chinese but it doesn't matter. Install the app and press the blue button then install the gapps. easy

I think the big tradeoff is 3GB of ram + bigger battery vs. microSD slot. I also thought the Note 3 looked better, so went with the note 3

Got my note 3 last week. Paid £185 but i got it shipped dhl, had to pay import tax, but it came with a case and a glass screen protector. So all in a win win.
Beast of a phone, and miui is pretty decent, super quick and solid as a rock. I got the 32gb 3gb model. Worth Every penny.
And the fingerprint reader is super fast. Much better than the one on my s6 edge, and about on par with my z5 compact speed wise

Agreed, expandable memory over gimmicky fingerprint unlock every day of the week for me. Plus I'm not convinced metal is the best material to build mobile phones out of, daft as it sounds.

Finger Print unlock or more memory? i know what I'd go for. Xiaomi screwed up with Redmi 3, they've lost orders including mine. Not so sure on Redmi 2. Guess I'll have to keep on waiting

No SD card on ANY Redmi Note 3. Personally I'd go for the plastic Note 2 and stick one of those metal bumper cases on it. They cost less than £2. The Redmi Note 2 16GB (with SD card slot so probably not necessary to go with the 32GB version) costs just £82 here
No SD card with only 32gb onboard the killer for me. send like a great phone though.

is there an sd card slot on the 16gb?

I'm simply using developer rom on miui website and arm64 bit gapps for Android 5.0.
I've tried
adb pushing it to phone,
Twrp,
Mi recovery,
Re downloaded a few times both files, did a clean install.
Still have crashing and rebooting of phone.
I'm just letting it settle for a few days to see if it gets any better.

12 digits! Atleast you don't use those silly dot to dots.
I don't lock my screen, would find it rather annoying everytime i unlock it. Use an app to block installation/uninstall, block certain key apps and block access to settings.
Reason is if I get knocked over by a car, stabbed etc, police or paramedic can contact family/friends or call recent dialled/received no.s to learn my name/details and inform my family.
I don't always carry id and certainly don't have a handy note which displays friends/family phone no.s

Its 4000mah, i'd be pretty annoyed if it lasted one day unless your playing for every single minute during the day. A samsung Edge+ with 5.7" screen has a measly 3000mah - though the battery is better quality

A great phone - mine shipped a few days ago from Everbuying, but not received as yet.
The Note 2 was my best value purchase of 2015, with the SoC being super fast, the build quality excellent and overall an excellent spec.
The Note 3 loses the MicroSD card, which is quite a shame, but has a slightly better / brighter screen, a Dual Tone flash & considerably larger battery in addition to the obvious upgrade to a metal body and fingerprint scanner.

The finger print scanner is quite handy if your lock screen code is 12 digits like mine.
Used to be bit slow to unlock my screen.

I think the note 2 also has an sd card slot... i don't need a metal body (in fact I hate metal on phones, it's cold, heavy, reflections are annoying), give me the freedom to choose if I want an sd card though
DarkReborn11
15 Dec 151#13
3000mah is still decent plus Redmi 2 has all in important sd slot and being 32gb + 32gb external. Apart from finger print scanner which would be a nice novelty to show off, I bet it doesn't work occasionally. I would prefer a tap screen to wake up feature or gestures.
Even if I was to take the plunge, it would be Redmi note 2

Note 2 has plenty of support.
It's easy to flash different rom and put gapps on plenty of guides just use fastboot method

I ordered one from babggood at 140£. plus you can install their shop app, and get 10% off. I went through quidco and got 6% though as I didn't know about the 10% thing.
I'm at work, someone else feel free to post links or post the deal.
there is no stock ATM. I ordered on 10th, and it said stock will be in on 14th, now changed to 24th. I have no idea, but I'm happy to wait, I hear babggood is a good choice for China phones so want the security

If this had a micro sd slot and 800mhz support then I'd have bought it but as it is, it just seems Ok.

This is Xiaomi pretending to be Apple, a lower spec Note2 in a tarted up case; as much as I like my Note 1, I wont be buying a Note 3.

Originally I looked at this but after playing with the redmi note 2 for a while I wasn't keen on it anymore..
The MTK chip is annoying and the forum support for note 2 is really unorganised (ie seems like not many has this phone so therefore not many threads or users developing this).
All I'm trying to do is flash developer rom and put gapps on it :disappointed: taken 2-3 days so far of force closes and unexpected errors (I've used android and tinkered since android 1.5)...
