Took one apart and cleaned up the button contacts the other day... Came apart easily, only one screw in the battery compartment then pry apart and slide out the infrared lens. The pcb was all greasy so cleaned it with paper towel and a squirt of wd40, then washed the rubber buttons and case in soapy water and dried them with hairdryer. Put back together and it works as good as it used to now.
Only 10 mins work so worth trying before buying a new one

Bit late I know but Sky accessories are a pain to deal with if you need to contact them about your order, the number they ask you to call have no record of the order and are completely unhelpful. After digging around they only have a email address. Never buying from Sky accessories again
Same here, ordered 2 remotes and they sent 2 dispatch emails and received 4 remotes

Hmmm... mine didn't even come in a box/packaging. Loose in a jiffy with a manual that looked like a dog had attacked it. Expect more from Sky. Works fine though. Got 30+ emails but only 1 arrived. :-)

well after ordering for full price on the 27th, I emailed them to ask if they could refund the difference, they said send it back, so Ive had to reorder, bad customer service sky.

Cheers for that,
I had bought a new "original sky remote" around 12-18 months ago but when it arrived it was a cheap chinese copy, the problem now is that as it has been well used it squeeks when you press a button as all the plastic has become worn, it never had the rubber reverse coating so anything other than a flat surface saw it disapear down the depths of the sofa, I have just etrieved my old sky remote out of the graveyard for remotes drawer and followed your instructions, it was weired because mine was exactly the same inside, it looked like someone had emptied a bottle of olive oil inside the remote and it was covering the PCB and reverse of the keys, used the Mrs Acetone nail polish remover and bobs your uncle my old remote is now working fine....plus £10 saved, thanks again
Lot of people use skybox as free to view and not pay any sub. Also there are some who keep it for third party subs. Its own choice. Also when it comes to renewing subscription you can ask for free sky remote.

Errr no - they will be selling the sky q box along with the current sky boxes - with the sky q boxes you need a fair bit of infrastructure in place to distribute the signal wirelessly (at a reasonable bandwidth) so multiroom customers who don't get a decent wireless signal and/or don't want to add power line networking, will like me choose to stick with the old boxes for other rooms especially if they are already wired in from the lnb. (also I am not planning on having 4k tvs in every room !

so how much is a new sky box if the old one fails after the first year, I imagine it would be quite expensive, I didn't think people where that gullible, pay for subscription, pay for box pay for remote, pay for subscription, pay for box pay for remote, and so on, are these people mad or just dumb

if you have a normal box just get the normal remote, the 50% off is off all remotes

can someone explain to me why you have to buy a new control if your old one breaks, having not been with sky for over 15 years I don't get this, if my virgin remote breaks " which it has a couple of times because of my little boy" they just send out a new one free of charge, so does sky make you pay for a new one if the original one breaks, that's not right, and if so if your sky box breaks do they make you pay for a new one, looks like a bit of a con on sky's side

I am looking to get Sky TV. I know they require a dish, but what comes out from it specifically? A cable that goes into the Sky box, orrrr? How does the multi-room setup work, if the dish from the cable goes into one main box?
If anyone could outline me the whole setup where and what goes I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you

A cable from the dish goes into the back of the sky box.
For every extra sky box you have, another cable is required from the dish to the new sky box.

They'd ditch the current product line in a heartbeat if everyone would pay up and take Sky Q- that's the bit which kills his theory though, if it's premium pricing then I expect the vast majority of customers will be just fine as they are!

A Sky+HD (black/silver) remote works with both recordable and non recordable HD boxes. A Sky+ remote (blue/white) works with a Sky+,Sky+HD and a SkyHD and a standard non HD box will work with a standard remote only.
All remotes can be programmed with special codes though to work with any box....
