The auto setting supposedly detects how much resistance it feels and pulses accordingly. It,does certainly stop and start several times to allow the mix to settle so it blends properly. Nothing you can't do yourself, but for me makes it easy for the kids which is worth it. You'll find you end up spending ,ore on fruit than the blasted machine in the first fortnight anyway!

This Blender makes fantastic smoothies. Use frozen fruit, Costco stores sell large cheap bags, to make some great tasting smoothies. No need for ice as well.

I find a smoothie keeps me going for longer than a traditional brekkie, including porridge. Healthier too.

I like the fact that you lock in the beaker and then can either select on / pulse / 45 second auto / 60 second auto. Means the kids use it more than having to keep it pressed down constantly. The 450 doesn't have a turn and lock function like the nutribullet. Not sure whether the extra 100w is significant. Have to say this is my first jump into this blitzing malarkey and am impressed. Kids love slush puppie type drinks also.

The Nutri Ninja on QVC is the a different model (BL450). This model (BL480) is priced at £91.56 on QVC.

Just got the Ninja pro 900w from Homebase yesterday for £50 (still available online), not tried yet as today is test driving my wife's soup making kettle looking thing she got yesterday ( she cant see me get anything lol). I did get the Breville Active family pack from Dunhelm posted on HUKD here £17:50 but screws found in bottom of box and one fell out machine when unpacking on Tuesday and didn't work not surprised and gutted, returned for refund. Voted hot for this good price.
