In currys they have a nespresso station with some machines and pods etc. Is it possible to use the Nespresso vouchers in Currys? I see them advertising the £75 free vouchers with their machines.

Vouchers can only be used with Nespresso either online or in their stores which they like to call Boutiques

Thx - its easy to get the wrong idea via blog posts. Nothing against PACT but I just dont like companies where you have to subscribe - id love to try their product but don't want to subscribe and I use many suppliers, including now Nespresso. Italian Artisan coffee is nothing like the main brands which I personally don't like and agree with you - Illy being the closest to barely drinkable. My favourite supplier is Coffee Real (www.coffeereal.co.uk) and they have good prices too. Ive been to their premises and the really put a lot of care into their roasting and quality.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Nespresso is the best or cheapest, far from it, but its the only machine that can make a decent coffee 60 seconds from switching on - the Rancillio has to be left 20 minutes just to warm up.

Have a great Christmas.

It really depends on your taste - do you like smooth with no bittereness if so avoid anything with robusta - Arpeggio is a good start. If you like stronger bitterness try Roma. Of you can get to a store, they will advise.

Of the copies - Taylors are quite good
Obstinate_Person to italiastar33

Now that I 100% agree with, arpeggio are my go to capsule. And Taylor's are the only copy worth buying.
I'm well jealous of your kit by the way, I'm just into coffee and thought you were promoting stale coffee, so had to say something.
Can't stand Italian or French coffee though, they over roast it

As I've said, pact coffee might be better, but until I can try it, I will never know. Out of interest where does your knowledge come from. I buy and use artisan roasted beans regularly from the UK France and Italy and have a £500 Rancillio and £400 mazzer grinder
Obstinate_Person
24 Dec 15 #123
Useless response.
Pact coffee is better because it's fresh. All of the coffee in supermarkets is stale, whether beans, ground, or capsule it's all months old. Roasted coffee goes stale after 2 weeks, it's not rocket science

Why is pact coffee better
italiastar33 to wakkaday
7 Dec 15 #107
Good question - until you can try it you'll never know, and if they stick to their subscription only policy we'll never know. The original stuff is pretty good and pods work well in the machine. Ive tried copies with mixed results but nothing compares to originals. Don't pay more than 20p per copy one as real ones so much better

Yes, but their charging 37p a pod which is even more than Nespresso. I personally dont like the was Pact market their coffee on subscription only. I tried to take up their £1 trial, but they wouldnt let me without subscribing, so they lost a customer before i even became one.

I got an email saying:
"Following your recent application for the Nespresso Club Reward, we are pleased to confirm your first £25 credit has been applied to your Nespresso account and will be valid until the 30th September 2016."

Once you have your membership number you are free to order where you like, don't think they send anything through the post. I presume you have applied for the 3 x £25 credit, the first one takes a few days to arrive.

I used my first £25 credit last week, the next £25 credit is now showing in my account.

my friend has a members clubcard, i thought that every member would get that? I'm not sure if i go in-store and read out my number they will be able to process it as they scan his card whenever he buys in-store.

furthermore, do you need to spend the full £25 before receiving the 2nd credit? has anyone tried to just spend a few pounds and received the initial payments after?

the £75 credit consists of 3 x £25 vouchers which can only be used per order.

so you need to order 3 times and get £25 off each order to get the full £75 off in vouchers.

i'm guessing their online store sells these capsules at a premium so if your overpaying for the capsules then getting £25 off per order it isn't much of a deal.

wonder how much they charge for delivery etc?

so after spending £80 on this you will need to spend a further 3 x £30-£40 to use up the £25 vouchers.
Echelon to PsychoSonny
27 Nov 15 #25
Well other companies sell Nespresso compatible capsules but im yet to find any I prefer to Nespresso's own. The price isn't too different either so I never really found it worth it. I've had my machine for a few years now and don't use it that often but back then you just had £75 credit to use however you like. I still have quite a few sleeves left but as I say, I don't use it too often.
emiratesstadium to PsychoSonny

Sid Harper to PsychoSonny
30 Nov 15 #79
nonsense - you can spend in store as little as you want, store price and online the same; the only decent non-original brand I've found (and I think I've tried them all) is the Lidl own brand, the others are all lacking depth and roundness
Sid Harper
30 Nov 15 #78
absolutely right - the capsules and defaults are tuned to optimise coffee extraction; use big button for lungos, small for espressos.

30 Nov 15 1 #75
Don't use this machine as a lazy way of filling up a coffee mug with hot water; if you pass too much water through the capsule, you'll over-extract from the coffee within and fill your mug with bitter tannins. Better to set the machine to process the capsule with a ristretto or espresso quantity of water and then fill-up from the kettle.
teddyshady
30 Nov 15 #74
JL staff are not low paid compared to other retail and hospitality staff and there benifits are much more generous then that of companies I've worked for on all sorts of days including bank holidays and Christmas Day for min wage. Profits go directly into the shareholders pockets. Who's laughing at the end of the year when they write there own bonus cheque.
italiastar33
30 Nov 15 #73
Profit for JL goes directly to the staff, so basically you are taking from the low paid people who work all sorts of hours including bank holidays and boxing day so you can shop.

Can some please explain the two top buttons on the top, the one with the larger size mug is for a larger coffee right ? And the one on the left with the small image on the button of a coffee cup is for an espresso or small coffee ? Also is it possible to make two cups of coffee (regular size ) from one capsule . Another question I have is which coffee capsule taste more like instant coffee as I don't always want laate but would want to add milk , thanks
teddyshady to kyrusdemnati
30 Nov 15 #71
I suggest you read the manual that came with it or google for better instructions. You can set how much water you want 3ach button to release as it comes default 110ml for long coffee and 40ml for espresso. Again read the manual but if u can't be bothered then it's pretty simple, turn machine on, fill tank and add capsule and put a mug. Instead of just pressing the long coffee keep your finger on it till the desired amount of water has been reached then let go, it should flash 3 times which means it's been stored. To reset to default with the machine off hold the long coffee button for 5 seconds, the lights should both flash fast 3 times then slow then stay solid.

Oh and a latte is a shot of coffee with mainly milk. If you want a normal coffee just put more coffee then milk and if you use the frother hold the foam with a spoon so you don't end up with a cuppocino.

V6ALFISTI to kyrusdemnati
27 Nov 15 #42
The Aeroccino is great, you put cold milk in and you can either change the attachment to make 1) warm milk 2)cappucino froth. It has a built in element to warm the milk...it does have a tendency to burn milk onto the inner lining near where the heating element is...so you do need to wash it each cycle..i.e if you want a few cups...it becomes bothersome.

Also at the moment there is free delivery on 100 capsules if you order 30 special edition festive ones so anyone looking to get max value out of the vouchers then for £6ish you will get 100 capsules delivered. You can do this three times each time the £25 is added. So it would be 300 capsules for about six pence each then you could consider switching to the cheaper LIDL ones (if you are looking to extract max value and don't stay near a store). They are good, but the nespresso website offers more variety so I tend to switch back and forth.

Echelon
27 Nov 15 #32
So you can just order £25 worth 3 times and say thanks very much!
It's better to buy in store if you can but I'm aware there aren't many around; no limit on how many sleeves you can buy then and I have gone in and bought a single sleeve before now.
PsychoSonny
27 Nov 15 #31
you don't get a £75 voucher you get 3 x £25 vouchers and only 1 can be used at a time.

so rather than you getting a £75 voucher and ordering £75 worth of coffee and saying thanks very much you will need to do multiple orders over £25.

so you end up spending more than originally anticipated.
