I found it cheaper on gameseeks own website, so this is better than the one from rakuten even with 10% off.

I agree. Also, the ball on the arcade stick showing cracks line as well. UncleScrooge, I am an avid console collector and amateur arcade board collector too..

Is this a good controller or is it poor build quality?
Can't seem to find descent reviews for it

I think I remember reading a review for the actual gold console, being poorly built. Not too sure if that included the joystick though.

Build your own arcade stick. There's loads of info and parts online and it's really easy. Just google 'fight stick' for a whole world of stuff.

Decent price but I'd still stick with an X-Arcade stick if you're I no this sort of thing.

Yeah, that's why I wrote AES, that's the original home console from the 90s. The chips were the same as the arcade, but the stick and buttons were of lower quality.

If this is - as the OP mentions - essentially deadstock from the incredibly disappointing Neo Geo X Gold, then don't expect it to be anywhere near the build quality of the original Neo Geo arcade stick. Very thin and lightweight plastic and a generally joyless feel to it.
Search YT for the video reviews of this by Adam Koralik and Ashens. Both were pretty scathing about it.

Perhaps it wasn't very clear but I meant the game board and engine.

Cos it was actual-arcade level hardware wasn't it? Unheard of at the time...

I don't think so, I collect arcade games and have an AES too, the joystick feels very plastic and cheap compared to proper arcade buttons and sticks, it sure wouldn't take the sort of abuse that arcades had to take.

I doubt this is arcade quality, neo geo was arcade in the home, they even used the same cartridges. I wanted to build a fight stick a few years back for the 360 worked out at about 70 quid for the decent buttons from japan.

My mate had one. People were just friends with him for his Neo Geo.
It was £399 for the console on its UK release in 1991. Each game was upwards of £200!!

We look at the 90's powerhouse console, the Neo-Geo
Back in about 1993, my friend bought a NeoGeo. Ridiculous prices. If i recall, these joystick pads were over £100 each.
