The 2 windows phone users finally found each other.

I bought this a year ago, and it's now sat around as a spare phone, having been replaced by a BLU Win HD Windows phone that gives me far better performance from similar specs. This is a great deal for this price, but be aware that Android on 1GB nowadays can be a frustrating experience.

Where have you found the 3rd gen phone for only £10 more? Cheers

Doh, I ordered one of these a couple of days ago thinking they wouldn't have any deals on them for Black Friday as they all seemed to be for the 3rd gen one. How frustrating.

If it was from Amazon, initiate a chat with them regarding that order and price drop and I am pretty sure they will refund the difference

Good suggestion. Unfortunately I bought it from a marketplace seller though..
WRT Carphone warehouse upgrades - I have 3 phones in our household all over 3 years old and never been upgraded, none of which were eligible. Nice deals if you can get them.
Bought this for my son, good deal, that I can actually buy.

If you live rurally, the 2nd Gen Moto G is probably better as its 3G (HSDPA) dual sim, for most situations.
4G version is single sim only. Rurally, 3G is often all you can get. o2 (giffgaff) / Vodafone is still 2G (an unusable 56kbps) in a lot of places, so its more use to have a second 3G three/EE sim, than a single 4G sim.

what's the main difference between 2nd and 3rd gens ?

There isn't one main difference between the 2 phones, but there are lots of small differences. The 3rd Gen isn't universally better than the 2nd gen (e.g. the 2nd gen has a gyro sensor and stereo speakers, both are missing from the 3rd gen), but it is mostly better.
right not sure if this is a daft question..im just out of contract on a sonyz how does this compare? or the voda smart ultra? im not technical i make calls and take pics and maybe check emails, browse facebook and use for google maps on occasion..no games etc thanks in advance.

If you take pictures using your phone don't buy the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 the camera is absolute rubbish.

3rd Gen has 2GB RAM ONLY if you buy the 16GB model.
Other than that stick with the 2nd gen and save yourself some monies.
In saying that Android 5.x runs like dog on 1GB of RAM if you're a power user. ( i know this cos i have a 1st Gen on 5.1)
I'm currently looking for a decent deal on a 3rd Gen 2GB model.

I agree that 2GB RAM is the minimum for any android, but to be fair, the 1GB RAM 3rd gen runs significantly better than the 2nd Gen. I have used both, and found the 3rd Gen to be a much less frustrating (but still not excellent) experience.

In most cases I would agree with you on the 1gb ram issue, however Motorola have a knack for software and the 3rd gen moto g is extremely efficient for everyday use if your not a gamer I cant really see any reason why you would me disappointed with this as a daily driver, ui is buttery smooth and most regular apps with the exeption of multi tab browsing work very well. I'm referring to the 3rd gen btw

Yes the 4G (XT1072) is single sim. The 3G (XT1068) is dual SIM, and also has a smaller battery.

Fantastic phone and as some people already have said, probably the better deal against the base 1GB 3rd gen version unless you really want the improved camera (which is fair enough) or the waterproofing (2nd gen still splash proof). Marshmallow due very soon apparently.

Guys looking for a cheap Android phone to buy two of for myself and family member.
Currently got a Lumia 640 and recently had a meltdown there was no available apps for it when i wanted to stream football, even Sky Go is not available. Decided enough was enough with that after the awful laggy performance as well.
Thought there would be more choice on Black Friday and Cyber Monday but this seems to be it.
Has anyone had this and the Lumia 640 to compare? On GSM just seems this has worse battery, worse video res and no NFC.
Would it better waiting for something else or is this on par with the 640 for a similar price?
Is there a £10 add on with the Three deal and any Three related bloatware?

Still on 1st gen. Battery at the moment is the best it's ever been 3-4 days. Tempted but not sure if it's worth the hassle.

Probably because people could actually buy it!
three (£99+10) deal went OOS online, and the CPW was not open to everyone - o2 and virgin only. Even those on that network sometimes failed the validation check.

I checked the three deal for the 3rd gen on their website and they were out of stock so went to my local three shop. They were also out of stock, but they checked online on a different webpage and it said they had stock, so phoned and ordered one. So don't necessarily believe their website, phone up and check.
