This Phone has just been reduced by 80 euro's. I'm sending back my single sim i bought from Amazon UK during black Friday week. Exactly the same phone except this has Dual (nano) sim.
I originally thought the second sim would take the place of the SD card but apparently this is not the case.
This might be a little cheaper if you don't use the Amazon exchange rate.
**edited to show recent price change, now 310euro instead of 300euro and white version now also available.
I haven't tried it myself tho as I have no need for dual sim...

I got a single SIM model, did exactly that. I have dual SIM now.

Doing this doesn't create a second IMEI does it? I wonder if all UK networks accept a SIM connection that has no IMEI?

Does that stop you from using the sd card? Or do you use a different tray? I looked into it briefly but decided against it due to warranty issue and thought I wouldn't be able to use the sd card and the 16gb is not enough for me

no it does not, to clear the air, the sim card tray has space for 2 nano SIMs and a microSD

Looking at the sim tray, its just a plastic tab in place where sim 2 should be. Should be easy to remove

can confirm. it is indeed a plastic tab with double sided tape. it can be removed by poking through the hole on the other side, or if you feel brave, by using a flat head screwdriver on the top side.

They also seem to have EUR50 cashback. Not sure if the purchase to the UK qualifies.

don't see what the hype is with this phone when you can get a OnePlus Two for the same price, invite free next week too I believe.

These are very different phones and it is not entirely clear which is better in my opinion.
I will just give you what I believe X play does better:
Battery (and this is not just 3700 against 3300 it is a power hog S810 against much more battery friendly S615)
Camera
Software
Warranty and reliability. (If your moto fails you will get it fixed in at most a week, for one plus two you want get a reply within a week (unless they improved over opo)
To summarise, not many people need the processing "power" of 1+2 (this includes the ram bit) and this is the only advantage I can see (ok a fingerprint sensor as well which is not worth much in my opinion) and this is a great all round performer doing a lot of important points for many people right. Also you avoid the hassle you might get if this one has similar issues as the predecessor.
Note I am not saying this is better than one plus two (although I would take it over one plus two any day), and I am sure someone would be able to give a similar argument why one plus two is better than moto x play and this is nothing but great, choice is good, you can go and be happy with 1+2 which suits your needs best and many others can be happy with X Play.

PLEASE NOTE THIS
The dual sim version is the chinese version, and therefore does NOT support most carriers in the UK for 4G. They all use band 20 except EE.

it isn't a Chinese model. Mine has just arrived and model number is XT1562, 2 imei numbers and supports LTE 1/3/5/7/8/19/20/28/38/40/41

This is a worthwhile improvement over G, which is a very good phone. (over the 1GB of RAM 3rd gen G to be specific).
you get a good enough processor (g is borderline to make the experience smooth so leaves questions about will it get sluggish in the future), better camera, battery, screen,...

Where would you stand with warranty issues, never dealt with Motorola so don't know if they would be friendly to EU phone in the UK?

Love my new X Play. The battery is phenomenal. Easily getting 3 days from a charge and suspect it would even squeeze 4 days on occasions. Nice big screen, navigation buttons fade away to expand to full screen. Very responsive and intuitive.

Single IMEI, but both numbers connect just fine. Not sure of the legality and all of it, but I don't really care.
A caveat (that probably applies to all dual SIM phones on the market now) is that one number has to be connected to a GSM (2G)/HSDPA (3G) network. Two numbers cannot be on LTE (4G) at the same time.
EDIT: To add, sims from FreedomPop/Three/EE/Virgin have been tested and confirmed working.

With amazon UK, you can return the handset if you dont like it. If i wanted to return this, would it be to Amazon UK, or Amazon france?

Yes you can still return.

But is that a return to Amazon UK, or to France?
It would be for the Mrs, and there is a high liklihood that it will be returned, even though it does tick 90% of the boxes.
Gutted that i missed out on the black friday deal!

You would probably have to send it back to France but wouldn't cost too much. I have bought quite a few phones from the different Amazon's over the last few weeks and the ones I've sent back have gone to the relative countries.
