Following Asdas weekend promotion of 99.7p for Unleaded and 103.7p for Diesel, Morrisons are cutting Unleaded to 99.9p (or 99.7p if you have an Asda close by) and Diesel at 1p off current prices.
Morrisons do not have a fixed price at garages usually, so this means Diesel prices will vary. Locally this will mean 102.7p for Diesel for me.
Not great considering oil prices are now $39 with wholesale prices at 96p for Diesel and 97p for Unleaded, but better than the Asda deal as this is not time limited.
It's not debating over 0.7p! It's debating over 0.9p-0.7p = 0.2p difference :wink: So if you put 30 litres in, it could make a whopping 6p difference to your total bill!

Morrisons around Stoke on Trent and Newcastle Under Lyme all sell fuel at .7p in-line with Asda. 1p off current prices of Diesel here (103.7p) will make it 102.7p and Unleaded will therefore presumably sell at 99.7p (currently 101.7p). I'd say check Petrolprices.com for evidence but it is offline currently.

Exactly. I've saved about £5.40 on fuel by only using Asda for the last three years.
There's a Sainsbury's and Morrisons nearer but I think it's worth travelling to get the best price.

What? How do you think the UK energy companies make the majority of their electric... Fossil fuels.
Electric for your Electric cars is only free in certain locations and wont be free forever, and when it's not free or when you want to charge at home, it doesn't work about that much cheaper, especially when you account for the initial cost of the Electric car vs a diesel with great MPG.
It's also a little harsh coming on and bashing people trying to get the cheapest petrol and diesel when it's not a cheap or easy switch to make, it's a huge outlay on a new car which most people wont have the money to do.
I hope, one day, all cars will be electric powered but It will take time and less ignorance to get there.

My Morrisons always price-match Asda Fuel hence will have .7 fuel price. Better at Morrisons as you could get some Match&More points too! 1L = 10 Points. So every 500L, you will get a £5 Morrisons Voucher! For me this is better than Asda! :smiley:

Yes we are being ripped off since Diesel at wholesale prices is actually lower. Historically Diesel would be dearer in Winter due to fuel demand.

So diesel is about 6p more expensive than it was in the summer relative to petrol. I fail to see how that is a deal. We are being ripped off on the price of diesel, surely it should be about 97p per litre now. However it is a very hot deal for petrol.

Well, I use the supermarket crap fuel and with the 8p per litre saving over my local Esso filling station, I buy a bottle of RedX diesel treatment from B&M for £3. This treats two tanks or 100 litres of diesel, so I'm still in front of the game :-)

I would go with Morrisons out of principle. Asda is only for this weekend, which is in bad faith.
The price of oil is around the same as it was in 2005. The price at the forecourt then was around 86p a litre. We are getting ripped off. Fuel duty hasn't gone up by 13p since then so govt isn't to blame either.

Diesel at my local BP is107.9 . Which is suprising as the Sainsburys 500M away is still charging 108.9. Bizarre supermarket pricing. 105.9 for Petrol at the BP. We always seem to pay more when closer to London. hmmm.
Maybe these prices will drop again in 1-2 days. (2p drop on the week.) Not sure why the BP would when cheaper than the supermarket anyway.

My local Sainsbury is now 99.9p for unleaded and 107.9 for diesel. Anyone buying diesel is getting ripped off by 2-4p. Who would buy from a supermarket when the BP is cheaper?? Unless you are getting free Nectar points? I thought that was just for the weekend.
