The infinite possibilities in Minecraft just got bigger as Minecraft: Xbox One Edition brings the global phenomenon to console gamers for the first time. Now you too can enjoy the blocky 8-bit sandbox action that has amassed a worldwide cult following, and sucked away millions of hours from players' lives!
The Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the game features an innovative new crafting interface, natural controller movements, a full Tutorial mode to teach the basics and for the first time in "Minecraft" split-screen multiplayer as well as over Xbox LIVE. Bizarrely repetitive and perilously addictive, isn't it time you got digging?

I've just ordered an Xbox 1 for my sons Christmas present. He has minecraft on the xbox360 and I believe this is backwards compatible. So my question is would this be any different to what I already have? :man:

Its not backwards compatable,You need to buy the xbox one version,But you get a discount, its about £3.75 to buy. i got myself a xbox last month and upgraded from 360 for my kids. and then transfer your saves off xbox 360 to the xbox one.

From what I've seen biggysilly, the Xbox One version is a much bigger game; more items available etc.

Is this still going?
I've literally just tried this and didn't seem to work (do you actually need to start a new game of minecraft while logged onto your Xbox live account on the 360? Never used Xbox live before, just played on my local profile, but want the cheap Xbox one upgrade....I've been Googling it a bit and someone suggested that the deal might have expired in September?

Differences between Xbox versions
Minecraft is available on Xbox 360 as a digital download or as a physical disc. There is no difference between downloadable and physical versions of the game.
The Xbox One edition is available as a digital download through the Xbox Store. Compared to the Xbox 360 version, the Xbox One edition of the game provides for larger game worlds with better draw distance and performance.
Can Minecraft be played between Xbox and non-Xbox versions?
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can only be played with other Xbox 360 consoles on Xbox Live, and the Xbox One edition can only be played online with other Xbox One consoles. There is no cross-platform play with the other editions of Minecraft.
Support for non-Xbox versions
Microsoft only provides customer support for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. For all other versions of the game, go to Minecraft for support. :man:

Thanks guys - I logged onto XBox Live through Minecraft, but didn't actually start a game, so maybe that's why it's not showing. I'll try it again next week and if not then just buy the flippin' thing for £12-£13.

Well, I've logged onto my Xbox Live account through the game on Xbox 360. Started a game. Saved it. Quit.
....still showing as £13.59 when I log in through the links. Do I need an active Xbox Live Gold subscription rather than bog-standard free Live account for this to work or something? :-(
