Paid £32.38 on the 29th November and am awaiting £15 in cashback whenever they decide to payout. Good price for what it does.

This is coming up as £59.99 for me now.

Received the device late last week. Unfortunately does not work for me, there is little or no documentation with the device or online so getting it to work is a complete pain; would be great if the device was identified when plugged directly into a USB port on a PC (for firmware updates etc) but appears to be limited to a Windows App, after many frustrating hours I'm giving up.
Surface Pro 1 with Windows 10 - failed to see the device
Surface Pro 2 with Windows 10 - failed to see the device
17" MBP with Windows 8.1 (bootcamp) - failed to see the device
15" MBP with Windows 10 (bootcamp) - failed to see the device
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact phone - worked
nVidia Shield tablet - failed to see the device
Dell M2800 - so far untested but not sure it's worth it
Disappointing results, as I already have a Samsung TV which can accept content from the Xperia Z3 Phone anyway I'm not sure it's worth keeping. Shame, the concept is really good, you mileage may vary, for wireless connectivity I'm wondering if it is worth trying the Chromecast or Firestick?

A question for those that purchased.
Was the unit that arrived brand new - factory sealed, or were some of you sent somebody elses unwanted return?
Are unwanted returns, being sold as new units?

Miracast/WiFi Direct devices like a microsoft wireless display adapter, or fire tv stick in display mirroring mode, connect directly in an ad-hoc fashion without any access point.

A cable.
Sorry, but that's the best solution. HDMI to HDMI or MiniDP/MicroHDMI to HDMI etc...whatever your output is on the device to whatever the input is on the TV.
All of the wireless solutions at present have issues of some kind. They are great at what they do but push them and the cracks (lags, screen freezes, connection issues/dropouts) start to appear. And, as far as I know, "direct" connections with these are impossible without using WiFi one way or another.
I took my Chromecast on holiday with me recently to hook up my Surface to the big TV where we staying and getting it to work with the place's weak WiFi was hair-pulling stuff. Luckily I also took a 5 metre MiniDP to HDMI cable as backup. Guess which one worked perfectly?

Okay - I think this is the million dollar question everybody really wants answered.
For mirroring a laptop/tablet/device to a standard 1080p TV - without needing to use your internet router (i.e a direct connection):

Those of you who couldn't get it to work may have intel related mircast woes in windows 10. Whilst HD3000 wddm1.3 drivers were released for windows 7 and windows 8, they have so far *refused* to release a wddm1.3 driver for windows 10. So if you want to miracast with a HD3000 laptop, you need to downgrade to windows 8 or 7, or you chrome and a chrome cast as an alternative.
If you want a multipurpose device that you occasionally need to display mirror to, get a fire stick (and whack kodi on etc). However, you need to set the firetv into mirroring mode through the menu each time, so this would not be the device to get if that minute is precious to you (i.e. for a teacher in front of a class).
If you want something primarily for display mirroring, then the microsoft adapter or a chromecast are less of a faff to use. Lag in general windows desktop was noticeably less for me on the microsoft adapter than using he experimental "mirror my desktop" in chrome, but streamed videos are smoother on the chromecast.
I'm still waiting on my TCB from October; tracked at wrong rate, and I am still awaiting TCB to contact the retailer. I am not altogether hopeful.
Hope this helps.

It's been a perfect Miracast device for me, issues with Miracast I've found tend to be with the equipment they're used with but I've had no issues with this and a SP1 which obv isn't the latest hardware.

is this same as miracast? Amazon's Fire stick has the same option and as far as I know Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 all support Miracast without aditional adapters. Wouls buying a Fire Stick not make more sense?
Got one, paid full price when they were first released!!
Works great, after you play about with your firewall. Mine wouldn't connect - because this essentially makes its own wifi network, my firewall was blocking it. Changed FW settings and good since. use quite a bit with a vpn on my Surface Pro 3 to stream the Blacklist to my tv from NBC's website.

Bought one for £38 a few months ago. Works fine, no issues. Updates are available through a Windows Store App if needed.

For using it to cast full hd movies, to a hd tv?
Good/bad?

It should in theory be able to transmit a full HDMI transmission but as other people have said your mileage may vary depending on other RF sources interfering or surfaces that may block the signal.
I've seen these used for ceiling mounted projectors where it's only being transmitted a few metres unobstructed from a laptop on a table to the projector on the ceiling and it worked flawlessly so it's going to depend on what kind of range you want from it. Transmitting from your sofa to the TV is likely going to be no problem, room to room though and it's impossible to predict.

I had one of these, performance varies depending on environmental factors. If you use it in an environment with lots of sources of interference (other wireless devices/networks) it will work, but occasionally the screen might flicker. If you use it in an area with little or no other wireless interference it will be flawless. So YMMV.
I wouldn't use this for playing pc games with; the delay (thou' small) would be unacceptable. Watching videos, maybe it would be fine, depends on interference. Slideshow presentation, web browsing, etc. sure go for it.

i thin I think its as much down to what you use it with - we've got a menagerie of PC's and tablets and most work well, a couple had issues but then did some windows updates and works fine, £60 quid no chance, 26.50 with some cheeky quidco on top, it's definitely worth it and free to send back if you're not happy.

It works great for me, pretty much no lag when duplicating a display or extending one. However I have seen people reviewing it and it's very laggy, then after resetting connections etc it working perfectly. For £26 I say it's amazing value!
