Probably not as an average sized bloke, they do however have weird sizings.....there is a thread [here] which relates to measuring the circumference of your wrist, and Microsofts official wrist sizing guide for the band 1 to print out [here] - ensure you click on the link for band 1 not band 2! . Really you need to ascertain both I found, and even then until you try one on you can never be too sure.

For myself I took a piece of string to measure and my fairly average wrist circumference is 18.8cm

According to the link for jojo42 guide the following applies

Medium band: wrist size of 7" (about 18cm) gets me to the middle of the adjustment range. Perfect fit.
Small band: wrist size of 7" / 18cm just barely fit on the widest band setting.
Large band: wrist size of 7" / 18cm leaves the band a bit loose even on the tightest setting.

The adjustment track is about 1" long, so that means roughly

Wrist sizes between 5.75" and 6.75" get a small (14.5 - 17cm)
Wrist sizes between 6.5" and 7.5" get medium (16.5 - 19cm)
Wrist sizes between 7.5" and 8.5" get large (19 - 21.6 cm)

As can be seen from that I am at the upper end of the medium and the tightest setting of large would leave it loose, as I loose weight (one of the intentions of buying a fitness tracker for me) my wrist size will thin in circumference....however.....

This is not exact science because it depends also very importantly on wrist height. there are three sizes as per the Microsoft guide, measure your wrist with that...I fit literally just inside the medium bracket, and with my wrist circumference according to jojo42 I do find as suspected a medium fits me with only slight adjustment. If I had gone for large I am pretty sure tightened right up not only would it have been too large for my wrist circumference but also way too much for the height of my wrist.

The heights are as follows :

39mm Small
41mm Medium
49mm Large

It is a crazy jump between Medium to Large regarding wrist height, and clearly for me Large would never have fit right even though I am literally at the upper end of Medium with very little on the adjustment slider (sometimes I found it a little uncomfortable with temperature changes and need to slacken it off to near enough maximum circumference adjustment.

Hope this helps.

Come to the conclusion that I won't be getting one of these from o2, can someone advise the best alternative for a similar price please?

Just cancelled o2 as had gone down to monthly sim deal only anyway and they had annoyed me over this. Their coverage for 4g around Bournemouth is not as good as others and can suddenly drop. Deleting their app off my phone as getting annoyed just seeing the waste of time piece of rubbish grinning at me.

I have a code and found stock last Wednesday but they refused to sell to me as they had nowhere to enter the code on the till to discount the price!!!! They said it was no longer on the app but I had a code from the website that said I had 28 days to redeem it. O2 is an absolute joke!!
uncledrew to carlnewman1

Something similar happened to me also. I found one and when they tried to input the code the system instead of a discount, it showed that the code is for a free wrapping paper roll.

Just re read this thread. Bournemouth store sold all theirs on first day and were not getting any more in. o2 were not doing a nice offer that would be available to a lot of their customers. They were simply getting rid of old stock to a few lucky people. Was thinking of leaving 02 anyway for a better deal with a better mobile signal but this made my mind up to go sooner rather than later.

Exactly I wanted to get the gf one but it seems it was just a get rid of them quick scheme rather than the 28 day priority deal which was advertised. Useless.

Can't have bought the last one as I picked one up today. But seemed to be the last one as I wanted 2 (2 lines as well) however they only had a small which is too small, so need to swap it for a medium...I'm doubtful.

I've used skinomi screen protectors on other devices before they're usually pretty awesome.
Bossworld
8 Dec 15 #220
Has anyone found a decent screen protector? I went for a wet application one off eBay for about £3, the cut out wasn't straight, nearly tore it trying to remove the cut out for the small window, and rather annoyingly, seem to have a speck of dust under the newly applied protector. I'll see how it rides out the next couple of days.

Also noticed that the heart monitor while running wasn't particularly accurate this morning, will try and tighten the strap for next time.

I'd used a DS lite one temporarily while I waited for this to arrive, and even within 3 days, it had left residue behind on the screen. Literally the first time I attempted to clean the screen after removing the DS protector, it left scratches on the black screen bezel.

I managed to finally pick on up after searching for ages in Perth...worth the drive, had to order and collect...cancel the order and then buy via Priority, all a bit of hassle but got one in the end.

Seems a decent device indeed so I'll see how it goes over the next week or so! Been using a Moto 360 with my iPhone and this seems to have similar features but obviously much more fitness focused! Thanks to the OP for posting this!

I checked mine over the weekend. 1 has definitely been used - box showed signs of being opened up, purple sticker over HR monitor was missing and lots of little hairline scratches on the screen. Not impressed. Going to take it back to store today and will want another one ordering in for sure.

I'm going to double, triple check my other one tonight. I'm not convinced that hasn't got some signs of wear on it although did come in better condition box and appropriate stickers over HR monitor etc.

Same here mate. When i asked them about the band, they dismissed me by saying that they didn't have any in stock although i was told by a girl working there that they did actually had one. When i told them that, a guy went on the back of the store and magically a sealed Microsoft Band appeared but he wouldn't sell it to me because when he tried to scan it, it wouldn't go through as it was considered a non-sellable stock if that's a thing.

Finally located one last night and picked it up this morning. Did have to travel a bit though to get it, but the staff was nice enough to put it to one side for me.

However, I did notice a really strange thing a couple of minutes ago.. I was looking through the missed calls on the device, and a complete stranger was on there.
Checked my phone, no signs of it there, and it was dated for a time before I picked mine up. Would this imply that it's a used/returned unit? I don't mind it, but it's just nice to know.

I have no qualms with buyers making profit by selling items on eBay.

It was the "I'm serving the community by selling them" bit.

If they were actually trying to be community minded they'd either sell them on here considering it's the community that found the deal in the first place, or for a little extra to cover their costs, not for at least double the price on eBay.

I fail to see why this is a problem.
Smart watches are hardly a necessity for anyone. They are a luxury in a market segment that many would argue doesn't really even need to exist.
So if this guy earns a few coins off some Ebay people who are irrationally investing in something that is fairly pointless, then that's fine by me.
(Do you also moan at the Ebay sellers who buy items in bulk from China, only to then sell them at an inflated price simply because of the convenience they offer with fast postage? They aren't adding any value to the process...they are just profiteering. At least the other guy is taking these Bands out of O2 Priority and instead offering them to everyone)

Just found a flaw with it. It seems alarms set on my Phone ( LG g4) can't trigger the band!
Only alarms set on the band itself seem to go off.

a list of other apps that work on differnt platforms is here by the way.

Found one to change the colours and set your own wallpaper.

Amazing price though, she'll love it.

I only tried it out for a day so far just to check fit to see whether or not it would be going back to Microsoft or not...I even put some cling film over the display to make sure it remained scratch free whilst trying it out!...It currently is put back all boxed up like new ready for Christmas wrapping even though I will know what it is when I do receive it as a gift.

I think you'll most probably have a reaction. I had with the band one on the inside of my wrist and I'm not particularly sensitive (though never wear watches or other bands so could be expected) I'm still getting a little itchy with the 2, but much less so.

the paper guide is for the band2, it doesn't state it on the sheet, but all links to it from the MS site say "the band2 sizing is different, use this guide..." I nearly made that mistake.

Do these have a lot of metal on the inside? I'd love to get one but my skin breaks out around my wrist so I can't wear bracelets or watches unless they are plastic!
cicobuff to remindMe
3 Dec 15 #67
Yes, they have skin sensors to detect conductivity so it knows whether or not yo are wearing it on both top and bottom of your wrist, there have been reports of this bubbling with reaction to sweat and chemicals with certain users, and obviously would be of concern if you have a reaction I am sure.

i'm not on O2, but my mum with her 'dumbphone' is. I googled the O2 priority apk, used her number, entered the confirmation code. voila.

I would disagree, an operating system is only ever as good as however optimised the coding is to run on a multitude of hardware devices...hence why Android struggles.

ratsdomino
3 Dec 15 #42
there is only small in stock near me, as an average sized bloke, would i get away with a small?
cicobuff to ratsdomino
3 Dec 15 5 #48

Whilst this is version 1 of the band, the biggest difference in version 2 is much needed styling. Its also around 5 times the price. At £32, this is a no brainer.

Been using v1 for a couple of weeks. Love the sleep pattern software, phone call, text messages, twitter and facebook notifications. The GPS tracker and heart rate are nice to have. Have yet to try Cortana voice recognition, The need to take it off and charge it every couple of days is a pain (since I'm always using it).

Hottest deal of the day imho
