You right, but you can buy more than 100 pack and cheapest, for example £4.99*5+£2.99=£27.99

Check `use by` date on the batteries...
Probably worth it if you've got nine friends happy to split with. I struggle to think of a post-children scenario where a third of those would be consumed in a year.

I struggle to think why anyone even (or especially?) with children will consume large numbers of disposable cells when they can just use rechargeables instead.

That's because the best before date only means under worst case conditions they won't perform to specification (though quite what the specification is, escapes me) - the capacity will drop slowly over several years.
I imagine the main thing which reduces their shelf life is elevated temperature.

I just tried it, there is a shipping cost of £2.99 to be added. So £7.98 ... This maplin Battery deal is still better if you need 100 batteries

Even within the "Sell By" date, my multipacks of Maplin AA and AAA started to leak before I opened the plastic wrapper. Each 4 pack in the Maplin box had what looked like salt crystals inside it. All went in the trash.

Conversely, I've got sealed packs of Maplin AAs in a drawer that expired in May 2014 and still look fine. I've actually used some and they still appeared to have plenty of life in them, too.
