I got this on release day as a PAYG Upgrade for £60, but it was very buggy and not just little niggles but the whole start/home screen taking ages to load even when I reset to factory defaults. I could have had a faulty unit cos my data wouldn't work either (carrier detected it as tethering - could be the whole universal OS thing!) and I somehow think the problems I had were down to it not being able to connect. I think W10M needs an active data connection to work (even if it's not actually gonna be using data). Others have experienced no such problems so probably an isolated incident. I had to return it as a result :disappointed:
Other than that bug I thought it was a good refresh and I can't wait till W10M comes to Lumia 830.

Looking to get a simple phone to become a dedicated Sat Nav; would I be better off with the better specs of this or the larger screen of the 535?

The tethering issue is something to do with Windows 10 on these handsets, I had the same issue on my Lumia 930 when I upgraded to Windows 10 (on Three network). I called Three and they sorted it out at their end, but since then a friend upgraded to Win 10 as well and he had the same issue. Loving Windows 10 however now

Had no issues with IDmobile(3) on Windows 10 Mobile tethering ?
Great deal wish I had a V payg sim

Funnily enough it seemed they had never come across such an issue when I phoned them. This is the only reason I returned the handset, ore wise I would have kept it as a second phone.

The first guy I spoke to at Three was a cock, but the lady I spoke to a couple of days later was very much more helpful. She disappeared off the phone for a minute, when she came back, she said it had been escalated and it would be resolved within 3 days... and it was.

Hi,
What exactly does it mean PAYG upgrade? I just want the handset, not interested in any sim cards or anything. There is a Virgin payg upgrade for £29.99.. what happens if I buy this? Ive read above that all phones are unlocked anyway?
I want the phone as a present for my dad, who is on vodafone atm.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
