That's not the ONLY difference....
I've had the G2, G3 (UK 16gb version and the EU 32gb Version) and G4....
The camera is a huge improvement over the G3 but there are also other improvements.
The G4 is a lot more stable, infact it's perfect, I always had problems with memory, overheating etc with the G3, especially the 16gb version, many other people had the same issues.
The battery life on the G4 is significantly better, the G3 would regularly last me until about 6-7pm from an overnight charge but the G4 lasts till I go to bed, I am a big game player, use my phone as an MP3 player streaming via Bluetooth etc etc, I think the G4 uses less power rather than having asignificantly bigger battery.
The G4 doesn't have QI charging built in now but you can buy a case to add it, the G3 comes with it out of the box (A negative for the G4).
The G4 runs Android 5.1, the G3 has 5.0
Overall the G4 is a massively better phone over the G3

For those interested in the warranty aspect of this deal. I have just come of the phone with LG customer support, giving them the IMEI number from the invoice received after placing my order. They have confirmed that that particular phone is covered by LG's 2 year manufacturers warranty. Stating it was manufactured in May 2015 and with proof of purchase from today, the phone is covered until November 2017. Hope that helps.

ERM no.
The display is significantly better for a start.
And comparing the cameras purely based on megapixels, just lol. G4 camera is up there with the best of them (Nexus 6p, Galaxy S6), G3 camera is very poor by comparison.
But alas, HUKD is full of people misinforming others these days.
Has anyone experienced Boot-lock error on this ?
I have experienced it and arranging with great difficulty to get it repaired/replaced by LG UK.
Thank God for the 2 year EU warranty. :stuck_out_tongue:

I received the grey version yesterday. As others have commented, I to have the 'Not For Sale' sticker as well. Not exactly the message you want conveyed ! The phone is immaculate in every other respect. I too checked the warranty status direct with LG (see response below) given the phone is covered by the warranty I'm inclined to keep it.
"Thank you for your query regarding your handset, looking over your IMEI number, I can confirm the phone is from the EU. I can happily confirm that the warranty with the UK is an EU wide warranty so we can certainly cover any technical issues with your handset"

I ordered the black model and received it Friday, it is the H815 and LG have confirmed via email that it does have the full 24 month warranty. From LG:
"I can confirm you would hold a 24 month warranty so we can arrange for any repairs within this time period"
It came in an LG box (not sealed) but looked brand new with all the protective screen and side covers on etc. It came with a 2 pin charger and no headphones or spare back cover, but it was the leather back version which was a nice surprise. Upon writing this there are still 7 black models in stock. Hope this helps someone.
Edit: I also had the "not for resale" sticker behind the battery that others have reported.

Received mine today and its a H815. Just sent an email to LG to confirm warranty.
Mine was fine, original LG box, no scratches but missing the extra back cover and headphones. Also, not sure if there ever was a seal because there are no glue marks around the box.
Also, the protective tape is intact, on the screen, on the edges and on the power button.

28 Nov 15#132
It actually probably is the black leather cover. It smells and looks like leather but feels plastic. Anyway I'm not that bothered about the cover as I was going to replace it anyway. I can live with the cover and the missing accessories but not the scratches on the laser cover.
Speculator
28 Nov 15#131
Also, this person won a g4 in a magazine comp and his phone had the not for sale sticker and was also missing the headphones, manuals and extra back.
No, I ordered the black version. It said in the ad that it would be brand new and sealed, with a black leather cover.
The ad says...
All our brand new items ship in the original sealed box with all the original accessories.
Black leather version.
Speculator
28 Nov 15#128
Did you order the grey one because LG don't sell a grey leather version, only plastic.
I noticed in the description for the grey version, it said a leather cover will be in the box. This was a mistake. It should have said Grey Plastic back cover in the box.
vipergrm
28 Nov 15#127
Hi,
No, the box wasn't sealed and no headphones or extra cover. It said on the advert that it would come with a black leather cover but no way is it leather! It's just a horrible plastic thing. Also, I just noticed the charger that came with it is an EU charger :-(
Did yours come in a sealed box and did you get headphones & extra back cover?
vipergrm
28 Nov 15#125
I received my G4 on Friday afternoon. I've just noticed that the plastic cover on the laser is really badly scraped, but the rest of the phone appears to be fine. Also, under the cover at the back there is a sticker that says 'not for sale'. Found this a little bit strange. Anyone else had similar issues?
AndyEssex
27 Nov 15#124
I'm never worried about whether the charger is 2 pin or 3 pin. As long as I've got the USB cable I have plenty of UK mains plugs ie old white Apple plugs, a USB port in the car and also (for slower charging) a laptop. Most of the main phone manufacturers are using micro usb connections anyway, so using a Samsung charger on an LG phone shouldn't be any different.

When I bought the G3 last November I quickly realised it was the best phone I'd ever owned (coming from a Nokia N70/N95/iphone3/iphone 4 and 4s background)
I'm not a very heavy phone user but I do tend to cane the internet a little bit as I am a taxi driver and it fills gaps in time by browsing. I must admit with the G3 I often watched the battery percentage bar go down 1% every couple of minutes. I bought a spare battery and an external wall charger so that I always had 2 batteries with me.
I didn't really care too much about the other regular moans about the G3 on this site ie a dull display with a lack of colour and also this "lag". I noticed maybe a slight hesitation when launching an app on the G3 but I presume that heavy users were annoyed by that but don't all phones eventually become a bit slow anyway?
My (ex) girlfriend threw my G3 on the floor in a bit of an argument in September and I was horrified. My G3 came back as unrepairable. I had a tempered glass screen protector on it which shattered but amazingly peeled off to leave the sceen completely perfect - recommended! It was also in a leather wallet but the impact was hard and the internals were broken.
I thought about it and for the sake of about £90 more I bought a G4 and wow! I noticed the screen was better and much more colourful, the response time for everything definitely showed up the G3 "lag", and yes, the camera is amazing.
The G3 is still a great phone for the price you can get it for, but at £265, the G4 is a bargain and walks all over the G3. I think it's the best smartphone on the market. I'm not an Apple or Samsung hater either. It's cheap because it's not a fashionable brand to be seen using ie Samsung/Apple.
I have G4 and its totally stable- never an issue with it in 4 months AT ALL. Best phone i have ever had, camera is stunning and so much less bloatware than a Samsung. LG Android variant I prefer over basic lollipop- and I ran a phone with stock Lollipop before the G4.

no direct experience with LG support but from what i've read on various websites/forums/etc LG dont honor their manufacturers warranty if your phone is purchased from a country you are not resident in. So no support in UK/ROI if you bought from France, Germany, etc. Not sure how it would apply to retailers selling non UK phones. Seems like a grey import area they would wash their hand of...

Had a G2 and it died on me in the warranty period, LG were a total nightmare in repairing it so be aware for warranty issues. You will need a date of purchase, proof of purchase, so in this case I don't think they will cover any repairs.

I bought my G2 (still have it, best phone I have ever owned, and I've had a lot - bought an iPhone 6 but only lasted a week before going back to my LG) - the screen had slight blobs on it, which turned out to be an issue. I called and sent it back, they repaired it quickly with no fuss. I had no problem with their warranty team.
That said, the camera isn't great with night shots (lots of flare from bright lights) I mentioned this and they didn't do anything other than to replace the camera module. I think it must be due to the coating or something and I've scratched it.

there is NO LG WARRANTY. I called smartfonestore and asked about it. they only provide 60 days (even though the phone was brand new) and told me to enquire with LG if they provided any.
I told LG the IMEI and serial and they said it's a unit meant for UAE, therefore no warranty in EU. Then they transferred me to a manager who asked for seller's details so they could investigate how these units ended up in Europe.
On the other hand, smartfonestore didn't try to hide anything from me, answered phonecalls politely and had no problem accepting the return and refunding me.

Thats weird because when I mailed them, I got a personal reply within minutes, I bought one NIB and when it came it was not sealed, had no manual and had no spare cover. LG said on the phone it had warrenty but when trying to confirm with them via email they werent sure,
They since amended the description for the black model I purchased stating that it doesnt come with warrenty but it should be NIB, sealed with all original accessories.
As mine was not as described I have sent it back, they should receive it today and I will await my refund.
Paid via paypal and with CC so I am covered should they not adhere to DSR and the CRA I will be covered.
But I cannot fault their timely reply thus far, and the handset I received albeit not what I expected was immaculate.
So just mentioning this to make others aware, if you after this phone and are not worried about warranty or accessories then this is a hot deal.

Really big fan of the LG G range and rocking a G2 ATM, the only thing that slightly let's the phone down is the software isn't as stable as naked android offerings - get some lag here and there plus the odd freeze that needs a reboot to cure, it could be just some of the apps I use that cause this though. Anyhow after being a android user since day one and recently getting a iPhone 6s the LG G2 is actually better in quite a few departments - the screen, battery life and the fact you can easily access the data on a andriod make getting the iPhone 6s abit of a mistake TBH.

Mine was fine, original LG box, no scratches but missing the extra back cover and headphones. Also, not sure if there ever was a seal because there are no glue marks around the box.
Also, the protective tape is intact, on the screen, on the edges and on the power button.
The ad says...
All our brand new items ship in the original sealed box with all the original accessories.
Black leather version.
I noticed in the description for the grey version, it said a leather cover will be in the box. This was a mistake. It should have said Grey Plastic back cover in the box.
No, the box wasn't sealed and no headphones or extra cover. It said on the advert that it would come with a black leather cover but no way is it leather! It's just a horrible plastic thing. Also, I just noticed the charger that came with it is an EU charger :-(
Think I'll be sending this back.
Did yours come in a sealed box and did you get headphones & extra back cover?

Personally, it's not worth the risk. Just spend an extra £30/40 and you can a warranty that lasts longer than 60 days!
Otterbox Symmetry case @ £13.46 delivered from Kikatek.
It would be handy if you didn't comment rather than talk ****.
The only real reason to go Nexus is for Chroma ROM <3
Stock with light tweaks and of course, layers for themes.
At least, I am hoping they did...
Thinking off getting a G3/G4 myself but this is really putting me off LG..
many thanks
I would not touch another LG product after my problems with them.
It seems they have gone downhill over the last 12 months!
That said, the camera isn't great with night shots (lots of flare from bright lights) I mentioned this and they didn't do anything other than to replace the camera module. I think it must be due to the coating or something and I've scratched it.
I mean if you need all of that fair enough
Camera still takes fantastic pictures or download the fv5 app
For me its a no brainer
Nexus devices (IMHO)- Quick updates + stock experience with blazing performance at all levels with better battery..Much quicker on security patches as directly from Google especially knowing Android's reputation in regards to security holes..
The display is significantly better for a start.
And comparing the cameras purely based on megapixels, just lol. G4 camera is up there with the best of them (Nexus 6p, Galaxy S6), G3 camera is very poor by comparison.
But alas, HUKD is full of people misinforming others these days.
Tempted but this puts me off
I told LG the IMEI and serial and they said it's a unit meant for UAE, therefore no warranty in EU. Then they transferred me to a manager who asked for seller's details so they could investigate how these units ended up in Europe.
On the other hand, smartfonestore didn't try to hide anything from me, answered phonecalls politely and had no problem accepting the return and refunding me.
1. They come brand new sealed but don't have the spare back cover in the box,
2. They don't have the headphones included
3. They come with 2 pin power adapter
4. They have a "Not for resale" sticker on it by the sticker behind the battery
5. Some say LG say 2 year warranty, some say LG say not covered at all.
anyone confirm?
The difference is it has quick charge 2.0 so I use my Qualcomm aukey charger to top it up to 100% within an hour and a bit. Otherwise pretty good phone.
There is no reason not to buy this phone now
Two days off a full charge
To most people the G4 camera is what sets it apart from 99% of every other phone, and if you lose that good a camera and are forced to use apps that deliver the same as a mid ranged phone whats the point.
