It's dropped! After doing a comparison, there are a few features that let it down for me. Things like no twin tuner, no USB recording, no Amazon player, no ITV Player, only 2 hdmi. Don't get me wrong though.... I've added heat cause this is a lot of tv and looks a good deal if these things aren't too important for you.

Probably yes is the answer but it is not that simple! I was looking for a new 4K set with some smart TV features. It needed to be under £1000 and no more than 50". I looked at the Sony KD49X8309CBU, LG 49UF850V, Panasonic TX-50CX700B and Samsung UE50JU6800. I quickly discounted the Panasonic, which I was surprised about due to all the good reviews, as the picture was the worst. The LG and Sony were actually next to each other and there was very little between them, in fact a Sony sales guy used a demo of motion while panning to try and differentiate but the difference was only slight. The blacks on the Samsung were the best, partly due to the panel being a bit less reflective and the colours a bit better overall.
However, was it worth £350 more than the £650 LG? In the end I decided not as what I really want is an OLED screen! So I took the LG as a stop gap until the prices of OLED come to a more reasonable price.
At home the refections from room lights can upset the blacks so careful positioning is required but overall, after playing with all the settings, you can get a good picture. The motion handling of this model seems quite good and the Web OS 2.0 seems very speedy and stable. Although the set was manufactured in November there was still a software update to install and the Apps all seemed to need an update when selected.
So if I was looking at this post I would spend the extra £150 and go for the 49UF850V from Currys.

Suprised these are in stock almost everywhere. At this price I was expecting them to be sold out when I woke up. As long as it's got the motion technology I'd get this in a snap but don't need one.

Too all Lg owners did you own a Samsung before Lg ??? If you did what can you say about Blacks any good?
I have read that if you got used to VA panel in samsung (black is what i mean) you will be disappointed by Lg IPS panel.
Can any one confirm this?

Have some heat. Bought a 32" LG few months back and I'm still impressed. Less likely to go pop than a Samsung or Sony. LG are one of the better manufacturers, their OLED TV along with Panasonic are the best on the market.

As an LG owner I seriously advise anyone considering buying one to Google - LG intermittant booting - if I had known then what I know about LG now I would never have bought one!

Yeah OK fella! You're that knowledgeable that you don't even realise that WebOS 1.0 isn't even on most 2014 sets now having being upgraded to 1.5. You obviously also have a poverty model from 2014 too as mid to high models all come with a magic remote which is a delight to use with WebOS which incidently is also the preferred OS by most TV reviewers. 2015 sets are also quad core powered as opposed to dual core on all but the highest 2014 LG models.
Oh and your comparing TV's in Curry's for picture quality too....

It a December 2014 model. It has WEBOS01. It's rubbish. It should have an IPS panel. It doesn't. It is slow. The TV guide is part of the WEBOS system. It's slow. I did say WEBOS02 was faster didn't I. The way you scroll through the tv menu system having to press up down right or left and then ok to move the curser instead of just pressing the left or right buttons is awful. Its different to any other tv I have had including LG. Slow motion judder is very very bad. Looks like it's been shot with a cheap chinese dashcam. It could all be down to this particular model having an AU panel. The new ones look ok in the shops but after buying two previous LG tv's and being happy I will be glad to see the back of this one. I did a close inspection of the LG 49UF770V in Currys the other day. WEBOS02 is much better but still has the awful piano keys at the bottom. You either like it or don't. I don't. The image quality (not judder) was no better than my current LG and the Sony next to it at £100.00 cheaper had a far better quality image.

If you watch about 4" from the screen you should just be able to see the difference between a 4k and 1080 tv at 49". Not a bad price though for a 49". Not a true 1000Hz. More likely to be a 60 or possibly a 100/120Hz. 178 degree viewing angle suggests its an IPS screen. Mine should have had an IPS screen as advertised by LG but it hasn't so don't believe everything you read. Manufacturers can get things wrong and sometimes just lie. Personally I would be giving LG a miss on my next television purchase. WEBOS is awful. It's slow. WEBOS 2 is better but it still has an awful user interface and I never use the smart side of my LG 50LB650V because it is just so so slow. Scrolling through the tv guide and menu settings is even more frustrating as LG have ruined what used to be a simple matter of scroll and select.
The main issue with my LG is slow motion judder. It is terrible. it's like there is something wrong with the processor and it cannot process the image properly. Not on every channel or programme but its there even on HD channels as well as SD. Argos could knock a load more off their LG tv's but I would still be looking at Sony or Samsung first.

Absolutely nothing wrong with WebOS 1.5 in my 4k LG. Nor is there any of the other issues you claim so what makes you think this TV will be the same especially as this is a 2015 unit and yours must be a 2014 or older unit.
