I've bought several pairs from SD, incl. 501s. No problem with them at all. No idea what people are complaining about other than regurgitating what they've read in other posts, or not knowing anything about Levi's jean styles which are made from various materials (not always denim) and weights. I specifically compared mine to some full price 501s in Debenhams and there was no discernible difference.

These are not fake, everyone just hates sports direct and assumed. I bought some 511 jeans and they are genuine. Not fake, real. So a good deal, just avoid the horrid ones....which are also real.

Levi make different grades. In the USA Walmart stock really crappy jeans with Levi's branding.

I had a look at these last week and the quality is just not there. I've had Levi's for over 30 years, and these are the worst quality I've ever seen with their name attached. I still wear Levi's that are over 10 years old and they still fantastic, perfect fit, kept their shape. I doubt if these would last 10 washes. As others have said, they are a mixture of very cheap, thin cotton, not denim and others that are quite thick denim, but very cheap feeling. I compare them to a pair of cheap work jeans I bought a few years ago that were black, but after 3 washes they were almost completely grey.
They might be ok for work, knocking about in around the house, but I don't think I'd be wearing them out and about, the material just feels wrong

Sportsdirect :
1. Buy a short/long term lease to manufacture the product
2. Buy clothing made for another market
3. Use a Walmart/asda philosophy (pile it high, sell it cheap)
Some stuff decent

Fell for this last time and they're bloody awful! Not even Levi, just cheap tacky material with the badge stamped on.
Horrendous fit, horrendous quality and horrendous company.

S/R/L means length I guess - short/regular/long, so depending how long your legs are, , weird as usually they give 2 dimensions e.g. 34W 32L meaning 32inch waist and 32 inch length, i guess if they just say s/r/l, thats a bit vague:P

Rest assured if they are being sold by SportsDirect then there are some issues with them. Basically they will be inferior! That's the only way they know!

And as others have said, I very much doubt they are fake, just made for a particular market, much like when you go to a Next outlet store or similar. I find it a bit sad really that Levi's have started to do this, as I could always rely on them to look good and last ages. Seems to be the way of the world nowadays. I bought a Lacoste polo a few months ago and again, the quality isn't there anymore. You used to be able to wash them dozens and dozens of times and the material still looked great, the fit was always the same, but not anymore. I've washed this one maybe 6 times, and it's shrunk, started bobbling, and looks pretty awful.
Trip down memory lane over, apologies for my old man reminiscing.....

In standard leg measurement convention here S is 30, R is 32, L is 34. Whether or not that applies to these, anybodies guess as there's been lots of complaints over sizing versus the label.
Also to those on about the thickness, Levi's make a variety of weight, some light, some mid and some heavy.
The jeans you're probably comparing to, thick, durable, perhaps rough when first out of the wash will be heavyweight. Just because they're not any of those things doesn't mean they're fakes.
They've also been introducing stretch on a lot of their lineup, something I hate, which gives the impression of it being a bit thinner and looser. Much prefer the thick, durable heavyweights!

Hey can you guys help me with the sizing?
I need it in 34/34. Sportsdirect offers 34W S/R/L. which letter would be 34? I hope you can help me out, customer service doesn't reply. Thanks!
100% correct. I have bought 4 pairs of 501s but I knew NOT to buy the rubbish ones. Mine are perfect, heavy denim plus you can get them in black which is a bit rare these days.

My sentiments exactly - final nail in the coffin.
No bad thing though. The marketing swill we were fed in the 80's & 90's can now be exorcised from our psyche's, having been exposed for the charade that it was. I'm keeping the image of the insanely hot chick in the yellow bikini on the beach though. For old time's sake.

I got some Firetrap jeans from SD, they are decent quality - just the sizing is all over the place as I was able to fit from size 32-38 waist! Just wonder if they failed the quality inspection so are classed as seconds, not that you would notice.

BEWARE.
I ordered two pairs of the 501's they had on special last month.
Whilst all the branding and labelling appeared genuine they were not denim. They were some lightweight blue cotton material that resembled corduroy or similar.

They don't seem to be made from denim and are a lot thinner/lighter then the pair I got directly from the Levi store in Westfield. Definitely not original quality, however if thought of just as an £18 pair of jeans they are not bad imo.
