Have been looking around for a mid priced Android tablet for Xmas. Decided on either the Shield K1 or a Yoga 2 (as the Nexus 9 has gone back upto £200). Reserved mini me the 16gb 8" from Argos for £130 today, then came across this whilst browsing JL for Toys. Same 1920x1200 screen but spread over more inches so slightly lower PPI, this one has 32gb internal storage but is otherwise the same. I wouldn't pay the extra for my needs just for the larger screen, but the added storage on top is a real bonus.
I believe it's been in and out of stock at this price, so act quick if this is the right one for you.
Currently £199.99 @ Amazon and this is price is the equal cheapest this has ever been there according to CCC.

Worth noting that being John Lewis there's a 2yr guarantee as standard, and UK delivery is free.
Did get a cheaper price last year though wait for it! Had ordered the Yoga 1 from Woolworths for £120 but they shipped the yoga 2 shhhh lol.

Great tablet. Had mine for like 8 months. Everything works flawlessly and amazing battery life. Use bubble upnp for dlna...I dont see what the issue is

DLNA is a software feature. It doesn't have anything to do with the hardware. Just install Kodi from the store and that will handle most things.

grabbed the yoga 2 8" from JL a year ago. its been great. recommended. with the 8" the battery bulge is like handling a curled over paperback. very comfy in the hand.

Thanks, just bought my own xmas pressie for DH to wrap!!
The screen's only 1024 x 600! Every game you play is going to look like Minecraft

Nice tablet but I went to see one before I ordered one held it for just a few minutes in a portrait way by the battery side and the strain on my wrist due to the weight so I changed my mind on purchase

Has anyone seen any good deals for the 8" version? Was looking for a new tablet for my dad, but the 10" is a bit too big.

Is their a trial version for the Plex app? i would like to try it. I have an Xbox One which i believe you can download the app. But you need to pay for it first?
The DLNA function has been working for me perfectly as i download a lot of media on my Sony Z3 and than use the Bubble app to connect to my Sony TV which works with no worries. The Xbox does have DLNA Function but it is very hit and miss for me. I looking for a decent tablet with these specs that can do this. This one ticked all the boxes except the DLNA issue

I got the 8" from Amazon a while back for my son this Christmas for about £120. Having set it all up for him (kodi etc) & had a play this 10" one is top of my list to replace my nexus 7. It's an extremely good tablet.

Thanks for the post  I've been considering one of these for a while, purely because that stand looks so handy. I had a play around with one in John Lewis recently, but I'm pretty sure it was the '3' which seems to have a worse display. Decided to bite the bullet and ordered one... more than happy with the price
Amazon do play around with links at times. Had to double check myself thought I'd miss-read it also!

Ordered one today, pick it up tomorrow. Its a Christmas present. Glad it seems to get glowing reviews. Was originally looking for something more conventionally shaped and 8".
This just seemed to be at the sweet spot of spec for size (considering the inbuilt stand) good spot OP.

I got an 8" from Argos. FWIW I find JL customer service excellent, and try to avoid shopping at Amazon wherever possible.

Tempted by this if I can find it in stock at John Lewis for the 2 year warranty.
Is there anything else at a similar price it's worth looking at instead?

My options we're this, Nexus 9 (if it drops back to around this price) or the Nvidia Shield K1.

I have never had a tablet before so know nothing about them. Is this yoga one better than the Lenovo tab 2 A10 16gb - I had ordered a tab 2 a10 from john lewis and due to pick it up but now seen this one for £10 more. is the only difference the 32gb and the stand. cant decide now whether to get the yoga instead but don't know which one is best - any advice please?

Received this yesterday and am really impressed. Both build quality, and performance is great. It's not as good as an Samsung s2 but for £160 it's a great bit of kit. <3
