Some lamp based projectors have become throw away items now anyway, I've seen new Epson SVGA 3LCD models for less than £150 recently.

If it's a refurbished LED projector, then lamp life is not an issue

You can but bare in mind that the lamp is a very expensive consumable on a projector and can often cost between a quarter to a third of the price of a projector when it's new so buying a used projector can be a false economy.

Be aware that these don't work with windows 8 or 10 due to the changes in the DMW process. It will work with both windows 8.1 and It with windows 7, although it will kick you out of aeroglass on 7 and into windows basic theme, and will also change your desktop to the resolution of the projector regardless of windows edition.
Junk, to be honest, but if you just want to impress your friends for 30 seconds by playing a movie through your phone in a pitch black room, go for it..

Are you sure about that?! These were only released a few months back ... so I really struggle to believe that they are incompatible with Windows 10 !

How does this compare to a normal size projector?

Is this more expensive than the below (#1 best seller on amazon for projectors) because it is portable? or will the picture be better?
Two different products. The Lenovo is truly portable...and as I've just discovered, will recharge via micro USB. That Elephas is more like a conventional projector in that it is 1000 lumens, and is charged via 240v.
Work out what your needs are and then buy accordingly. I would almost have bought this Lenovo - but amazingly, it doesn't seem to have HDMI ! Crazy.

Probably got a better quality lense as well as wireless connectivity and the battery that the other one lacks. I've a Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 13.3 with a Pico projector built in and that's a lot better than I expected tbh (its also slightly better spec that the projector in this but there ya go).

Think it means projectors were going to be an added feature on mobile phones. There are a few but it didnt really take off.

Back in 2009 I used a Dell M109 50 lumen led projector and the results were surprisingly good, in pitch black conditions I could fill an off white wall with watchable video at around 80 inches, closer at around 40-50 inches (screen size) it was excellent.
