So I saw the Sports Direct offer and the comments weren't keen on purchasing from Sports Direct.
So I contacted John Lewis for their Never knowingly undersold and they price matched it for me!
So its £68.50 on their website and they will refund the £38.50 back onto my account. Here is the email!

This is the response I got from customer services when I sent a price match request:
The item sold by Sports Direct is not the same product as ours as our product is a refillable bottle, therefore, on this occasion I am sorry I cannot match the price offered by.

Just to clarify the Sports Direct is a refillable one. Alien 60ml EDP ONLY comes in a refillable option. They only have a non refillable one at 30ml. I would go back to John Lewis on that one.

Just got my sports direct perfume delivered they deliver it in a plastic yodel bag with no bubble wrap the box of perfume is battered I can't give it as a present.dont even start me on customer service she's saying well is the product damaged? As if I would give a battered and ripped box as a Christmas present.She is telling me to return it yet it will cost me another £5 to reorder again for the postage costs.Are they joking.Never again

Its my first time shopping with them. they bubble 1 of the 3 perfumes I ordered. 1 of the unwrapped perfumes came in a metal tin and it was dented. luckily I was able to pop it back into shape. but I do agree, makes me think twice in future. especially if the intended purchase is a gift.

Got mine from SD. Same packaging as yours but arrived absolutely fine. You must have been unlucky, but yeah some bubble wrap wouldn't go a miss.

This afternoon I received my Sports Direct order via Yodel. A polythene bag which contained clothing items and a bottle of fragrance. No extra packaging on the fragrance. Therefore the fragrance packaging was broken and battered the seal was broken on the cellophane wrapping , the bottle of perfume was totally free of the packaging and rolling around loose in the bag. No care taken what so ever to protect my purchase . Email sent to customer services but not holding my breath ... Won't be able to use it as intended Chrissy pressy . Won't use them again .

Oh dear Pudding ! In my opinion the packaging is part of the product , as I always keep my fragrance in their boxes, tins ect . I have always believed by keeping them in the packaging they are protected from sunlight which can be damaging to the scent.

Icklepickle I was wondering the same thing ! As I bought Jean Paul Gautier in a tin, and the plastic seal around the bottom of the tin is ripped off , the tin has opened , fragrance is out of the tin and the hard plastic casing that holds the bottle is broken . I don't see how the plastic seal could have broken and torn off in transit !! Shame on Sports Direct !!

Picked up my bottle of Alien today from SD with free click and collect, sealed gold coloured cellophane with cardboard sleeve all undamaged, plus a £5 voucher. No complaints looks genuine to me.

I would check the manufactures date as i've heard reports SD sell perfumes that can be up to 5 years old ! :confused:
That's just the refill bottle, not a perfume bottle. As in, it contains the perfume to fill your existing spray bottle, just like the Sports Direct item.
The Sports Direct item is a refillable bottle, as in, you can fill it with the contents of the John Lewis item.
Bit late now when I already bought it from sports direct or would of gone to John Lewis if i would of known but tried price match before with a kindle and wasn't happening so has put me off the price match thing with JL

Ordered Alien, Issey Miyake and DKNY green apple from Sports Direct and no problems at all. They all smell exactly as they should and I am happy to purchase again! I do agree a bit of extra bubble wrap would have been helpful but as others have said I've ordered from JL before and had to return damaged stock so just luck of the draw.

Obviously JL are fully aware that the deal existed seeing as they price matched mine & probably dozens of others aswell, so aslong as you sumitted the match while the SD offer was live they can't really refuse to match it :smile:
Did you already buy it from JL then submit a price match hoping they would match SD ? If they won't match it then just return it for a full refund :wink:

I've had the same problem, purchased it last nite and sent the price match form. Got an email this morning saying it won't be matched because sports direct have taken it down now. JL said "At the time of investigation is when we check the price and stock levels of our competitors, rather than the time of submission. We aim to respond within 24 hours of your request. As we have done so on this occasion, I regret that we cannot alter our decision of this price match". Just gonna ring customer service and cancel the order. Just a shame I didn't see this deal earlier.

Just because they investigated the claim within the 24 hr response time & the offer had expired doesn't mean you don't qualify for the price match because even if they failed to reply within 24 hrs they still wouldnt match it because it's expired they're just trying to fob you off ! :neutral_face:

Well its been over 48 hours since I orice matches and yet again jl never reply no diubt they will fob me off when I call them. They are becoming more like currys week by week for customer service. Submitted a tv price match last week whichbi had reserved at argos they told me they wont price match as its not in stock even though I had a reservation.

Thanks for the email times. Gonna try and use this to show that they knew it was cheaper somewhere else. But didn't match it on there website like it says they would on there prices promise.

Just like they were fully aware that Argos & Halfords were selling the gopro Hero3+ in sliver a few weeks back at £150 / £135 but never lowered their prices they just matched the offer !

Came back in stock on xmas eve but was soon out of stock again lol you should have bought some when they had stock as you've got a better chance of them matching a lower price /refunding the diffrence if you've already got it vs them using the' we can't price match because we don't have stock' line as you can always return it & get a refund if they not playing ball :smile: Just keep looking for when they get it back in stock & grab a few bottles you've got 28 days to place an order :wink:
