mobiles.Co.UK have another promotion on using the code XMAS150 to get 150 off the upfront price of a 128gb iPhone 6s all colours.

The total price comes to 894 whilst the retail price of the phone by itself, new, is 750+ I think.

It's with O2 who are currently bumping data for new iPhone contracts for free, so some people have reported 5gb on the same tariff as well.

It's a great deal if anyone wants the bigger storage model.

Don't forget the 10quid possible cashback with quidco for new contracts.
- matwalaboy

http://www.mazumamobile.com/mobilescouk-bonus.php - for an additional 50 for your old phone, but then ofcourse you don't get the Quidco cashback.

Thanks to tez_f for pointing out

Well, £750 for a phone, a video phone, a music player, a camera, a GPS, a camcorder, a video player, an internet browser, a computer. Yeh I remember the days when we used to get all them as separate devices. Did we get them them all for £750 or less though... mmm

P.S Im not pro iPhone or Against it. Just think you can't really say its just a phone anymore.

Once you click the link choose your colour and then filter left hand side on o2 scroll down to the £31 contract and click on it, next page show £300 for the handset add the code and it works . Might take a while to get the contracts to all load or it did on an iPad.

Anyone know whether iPhone from mobiles.co.uk are unlocked? I know there have been countless discussions on iPhones being unlocked in general, but there's always a few discrepancies. Did anyone who got the last O2 deal from mobiles.co.uk successfully use another network SIM card?

Also have another question about porting if anyone knows. Can you port an old contract on one network to another old contract on another network?

Ok need advice guys, my daughter has a few months left on her contract with o2 i pay £38 a month just now, they have offered me 3gb data unlimited texts and mins for £46 per month and for the 64gb 6s they will wave the cost of the phone, for the 128gb they will take £100 off the cost of the phone so will need to pay £70 upfront and i owe them £80 to buyout remaining contract.

So do i go with one of those deals either £80 to pay off contract and £46 a month for 64gb phone or £46 a month for 128gb and £70 upfront cost for phone and £80 i owe to buyout contract so £150 in total or do i take out the deal with mobiles.co.uk £150 upfront for the phone and £80 i owe o2 to buy out remaining contract???

Who pays the better part of a grand for a phone and pocksy 3gig these days?

Like paying for a new merc, when for half the price you can get one with 1000 on the clock.

Decent android or iPhone for 150 to 200 plus a tenner unlimited HSDPA x2 AND no contract less than half the price.

Then you don't need to worry about smashing or losing it.

Last time I used android was the original htc one, loved everything about it bar the software. Little things like iMessage, the seamlessly smooth operating system, next to no crashes or bugs, excellent support, excellent multi device support between iPads and macs. I could go on but yeah im pretty dedicated to apple products regardless of the spec of an android phone.

Don't get me wrong though I'd happily buy an android tablet and I have a windows PC as well as a mac as I believe both OS have big positives that you cant get in just one.

You mustn't be looking very hard, the droids normally spoil the apple treads with their moaning but on android deals they vote them hot and then argue amongst themselves. The other week there was a good one, saving a tenner on a droid phone, they voted it hot just because it was a android but it was refurbished, then page after page of them moaning why save a tenner when you can buy it brand new for a little bit more. Priceless.

Apparently the step up this time around 6 - 6s was significant but so was/is the price hike.
Check out http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/iphone-6s-vs-iphone-6-should-i-upgrade--1302313
At present the 128GB 6S is £699 on apple, we're paying £894 over 24 months (£37.25pcm or minus the phone cost the contract is equivalent to £8.125pcm).

And if one plans to make a Mini-PC out of a smartphone then the best choice is to go with Android OS for external card support, ability to drag & drop files, download apps from the Google or from the PC, so on and so forth. Mini-HDMI to HDMI cables are pretty cheap too.

The only downside is that being that it'd be a phone the battery would last a whole lot less than an actual Mini-PC but just keep it plugged in then.

Maybe not something you can just click & buy, but I've been offered a better deal via EE retentions: iPhone 6S 128GB, unlimited texts/min, 10GB data, £81 for the handset and £35/month. £27 more for a heap load more data and willing to waive a "£9 unlock fee".

They said they have plenty of 128GB stock so were willing to shift those in preference to the 64GB models...only thing is, shame they phone only after I've bought the contract with O2!

True about the fashionable brand, completely wrong about "top end phone". On every measurable feature (screen technology, screen resolution, pixel density, battery, camera, compatibility, out of the box functions) it's very much a mid-range phone. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy it if you like the brand - plenty of people pay top dollar for mediocre stuff because of the logo stamped on it.

2GB RAM on iOS is just as efficient, if not more efficient than 3GB on Android due to the way iOS handles multitasking. The A9X is as powerful a chip as any of its competitors.

Oh, so because a 4.7" screen isn't 1440p it's awful. 750p is more than efficient for a 4.7" screen, ffs. 1080p+ on a screen of that size is complete and utter overkill.

Poor battery, you serious? I'm guessing you've never used a 6s long enough to test the battery then?

You're reaching with that post... At least post a link to a comparison test with like for like hardware to back up your claim.

android phones will always tout having quad core this or quad core that... But as mentioned by someone else above the benchmark test always shows Apple iPhones do favourably better as the software is optimised for the hardware. It is what it is.

People need to stop looking at the phone and need to focus on the long term deal. I've a Nexus 6 which cost me a shade over £300 when purchased, couple that to my sims only contract of £22.00 a month would total around £828.00 for 24 months. So for me to get this deal (albeit from EE on a retention deal slightly cheaper) for £882.00 for 24 months would mean my current Nexus 6 and sim only deal is only saving £54.00 over the life of the contract.

Apple or Android who really cares, Apple phones sell for a premium, get over it, fancy marketing or good products, whichever way you look at it, future resale value of the iphone will far outstrip the resale value of my nexus :disappointed:

For those wondering, I've got the iphone for my daughter, plus with the retention deal my overall contract for two sims (plus iphone) is less than previously paying monthly. OK I've had to pay £150.00 for the phone, but hey......where else could I get an iphone 6s 128gb for £150.00......even the nexus 6 32gb still costs more than that new
brookysm
22 Dec 15 #220
I'm also still paying £35 a month for 3's The One Plan as they haven't got round to booting be off so the unlimited data that's tetherable is plus more minutes & texts is still worth the £4 pm more. This is obviously time machine stuff to get but it still shows that the monthly cost is expensive too.

Both my son and I failed credit checks earlier this year in spite of having excellent credit ratings and had our orders cancelled. A day or so later we both had phone calls from Mobiles.co.uk offering to find a (dearer) contract which would pass the credit checks. I asked them why - if their checks showed us to be a bad credit risk - they would be able to source another (dearer) contract and they blamed the mobile company (O2) But I then took out a contract via CPW and O2.... Obviously this proves nothing but I won't be dealing with Mobiles.co.uk again. Incidentally no credit searches appeared on my credit file

One could argue that Aston Martin can justify its high price due to being produced in low volume and requiring lost of labout and costly part.
But with iPhones and Armani suits, they are mass manufactured in bad conditions, in places like Bangladesh and Shenzen where workers live on site and commit suicides. iphone 6s Bill of Materials (according to Forbes) is 152GBP. It's £21 per month for a similar O2 tariff. That's £504 over 2 years. You could look at it as paying £390 for the phone. Or you could look at it as paying £8.12 per month for the tariff, as the phone is £699. Not to mention, you get to pay it out over the course of 2 years as opposed to having to pay a huge lump sum for a sim free phone.

Don't let that get in the way of a good ol' Apple price bash, though!

Working people don't buy iPhones. They either get them as company phones and/or they buy Android. It's only the poorest people I know who have 16GB iPhones (poverty spec) on really expensive tariffs. I assume because they're trying to hide their impoverished lifestyle. Their Facebook timelines are usually full of pictures with captions over them and selfies taken when bored, or occasionally outside somewhere they won't actually ever go inside.

Spoken like someone that has never used the phone. The extra RAM and improved processor are hugely noticeable. Keep believing nothing's changed if you want, though.

Well as an owner of a 6s Plus and Note 5 (developer here) and having used the heavily every day, I can tell you that the screen, tiny bezels, camera, multitasking, customisation and google integration (which I use every day as part of my work) are all superior on the Note 5 which is an Android device (oh and it cost me £425 compared to over double that for a 6 plus). Still like the 6s plus (good low-light shots, 3d touch is cool and super snappy). Why do certain individuals have to act like these companies are gods and "EVERYTHING" must be better on one or the other.

It really is crazy; it's a phone not a religion. If massive companies are making these things then it's perfectly logical that some things will be better on one and some things will be better on another. They're all playing catchup with each other.

That's correct it is a mobile device - a mini computer in your pocket, barely anyone uses these things as a phone these days. Nobody can dispute the incredible number of things that these devices can be used for.
£900 good value? I am not sure about consider how much the cost of separate music players / gps etc have fallen in price during the past decade?
Also consider that my Windows mobile device (640) does all of the things mentioned, has a better battery life and cost me a fraction of the price - i pad £55 secondhand (almost new), combined with a BT sim, it will cost me less than £200 over two years. I rather keep the other £700 for holidays / other things! Before anyone mentions it I know that the app store is relatively poor but I am not an app junky.

Not voted as i dont know whether this is a good price only that it is a high price to pay.

Personally, I am in neither camp and just buy the one which is best for me at the time. That's because Apple have a profit margin of around %40 while companies such as Samsung have less than 10%. They're great phones (I have a 6s Plus) but you're paying a massive amount of cash straight into Apple's coffers in pure profit. It also means you're getting considerably cheaper hardware than the price would suggest. They're still nice though!

23 Dec 15 #295
Yeah that's what they offered me as well.

I prefer cases that are practical and not bulky,

This one is good, perfect grip when typing, but it's not a hard case, I recommend you get a glass screen protector as well.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/111855581515

This case is also good as it offers proper drop protection but also some grip when you hold it.

Buy some glass screen protectors to protect your phone, the last thing you want is a smashed screen.

Just decided to check for an android phone (128gb) with similar contract terms......looked on carphonewhorehouse for the Samsung Galaxy S6....£99.00 down for the phone and £44.00 per month on contract. Total cost = £1,155.00 for same contract term (24 month)

Sim only deal from same seller = closest to deal is ee with unlimited text/minutes + 6gb data instead of 3gb (or 5) £23.99 or £575.76 for 24 months.

So, for those saying £900 for a phone, maybe you should be saying £318.24 for a phone as the rest is contract cost for minutes and data.

Yes but they do it well and often set new trends for the way a device works before others. All companies copy, but Apple do tend to get things right.

I think this thread is just the perfect example of everything wrong with computer/phone zealots. It's exactly the same with computers; I use Windows and OsX desktops and laptops every day. I have zero problems with either of them and comfortably move from one to the other without adjustment. Yes people like these will tell you there's a MASSIVE different or that one is total trash while the other is amazing.

I am already with o2 on a refresh deal, I tried and could not get double data :s, as far as I know Carphone Warehouse own mobiles.co.uk.

29 Dec 15 #335
I've totally gone against the grain and ordered one, purely because it is the 128GB model and will have great resale value.

Did anyone else's not arrive with a Sim card?? Just opened mine up and there's no Sim. No major drama as o2 are sending one out and I can still use my 3 Sim card in the new phone. Waiting until Monday to put the PAC code through.
djdave2929
29 Dec 15 #336
Bit peed off here. No Sim card in the box, so I have had to order one on the phone from o2. My problem is that I have an iPhone 4S. Guess what.....different sim card. 4S=Micro Sim 6S=Nano Sim. Got a PAC code from Three, but o2 will not process it until Monday because I have to wait for the Sim to arrive in the post.

Got in a right mess. Three customer services said they would crop the sim card in the shop, so I went down there, queued up for 20 minutes, then they said they don't crop Micro Sims cards to Nanos.

What also dawned on me was even if I did get Three to crop the card, the phone would lock to their network on insertion. Aaaaaagggggghhhhh. I am going to demand that mobiles.co.uk offer up some compensation for not enclosing the sim card.

Do you think there's a chance that the phone might be unlocked as there is no sim card enclosed??

Hi . Sorry to hear of your bad luck . I ordered the 64gb version on the same tariff with o2(from mobiles.co.uk). I did have a SIM card from o2 in the packaging , when I was setting up the phone it said no service then after I inserted the sim , it said something along the lines of activating sim and took a couple of minutes , so I'm guessing they come unlocked or it wouldn't of took so long? Sorry I'm not 100% just my opinion . Hope everything's sorted for you soon!
djdave2929
30 Dec 15 #338
No, apparently the phone locks to the first SIM card that is placed in it. Just as well the 4S SIM card is a Micro and not a Nano, otherwise the phone would of locked to Three and then the thieves would of slapped a charge on me to unlock it.

djdave2929
30 Dec 15 #340
It wouldn't have worked anyway as the 4S is a Micro SIM and the 6S is a Nano SIM. I still wished mobiles.co.uk would of enclosed the SIM card. Wasted over 3 hours of my day yesterday on the phone and going to my local town centre.

djdave2929
30 Dec 15 1 #342
I didn't have a Nano in the house to compare. In hindsight it was just as well as I would of been locked to Three. Wonder what the thieves would of charged to unlock the phone? I warned them that their iPhone 6 and 6S deals were way more expensive than their peers, but you're wasting oxygen talking to some of those Indian call centres.

Finally got the network switched over, absolute joke of an experience. Amazing isn't it? I was paying TWO network providers at the SAME time (Three until the end of January and o2 billing me since the 28th December) and went a whole day without any service.

o2 never switched on overnight and, despite three previous phone calls, the problem was the the SIM card serial number was different to the one on their system, hence why there was no service. Called up in the morning and said "what the Hell" and the bloke put it right straight away. Annoying how 3 previous "agents" couldn't think of the idea to check the serial code like he did. That just shows you that the whole PAC Code process is a complete fail. Your old network should not be cut off until the new one is usable.
